Are The Eagles Falling Apart Like 2023? Looking Like It Right Now After Black Friday!
The Eagles fell at home on Black Friday to the Chicago Bears, 24-15, thanks to another horrible offensive performance as Jalen Hurts didn’t look great out there. First, I want to credit the Bears for how they played in this game, completely dominating up front on offense, controlling the game with the run game.
As De’Andre Swift and Kyle Monangai both had over 100 yards rushing, the first time since the 1985 Bears Super Bowl run that has happened in a game. AJ Brown had a great game with 10 receptions, 132 yards, and two touchdowns as he was by far the Eagles’ best player on offense. This is screaming 2023 all over again! Here are the details of it.
The Eagles have lost the Ability to Play Complementary
The Eagles turned the ball over twice, including the tush push fumble after the Jalyx Hunt interception midway through that third quarter. That tush push fumble clearly changed the momentum of that game to help the Bears pull away with the win late in this game. Philadelphia’s defense did everything it could to help the offense, but the offense couldn’t do its part, which leads to my next takeaway.
FIRE KEVIN PATULLO TOMORROW
Philadelphia clearly needs to make changes to avoid repeating 2023, and that change is moving on from Kevin Patullo. I know that Sirianni said on Monday he wasn’t planning on making that change, but after another ugly offensive performance and two bad NFC losses, like in 2023 when the Eagles made the move from Sean Desai. I think I’ve seen enough of Kevin Patullo as Philly’s offensive coordinator.
But I have a feeling that that change is not going to happen, but I have been wrong before, and the two guys who could change that are Howie Rosman and Jeffrey Lurie.
Final Thoughts
Things are in a tailspin at this very moment of time for the Eagles as changes should be made if they want to be the team, all of us fans thought they could be. We will see if those changes get made, but one of those changes, Hurts, has to be better than he was against the Bears today, as this was his worst game by far this season. He missed several opportunities in this game that he would normally convert if he were on point.
I think Patullo’s offense has finally gotten him out of sync, as he was playing well for the most part this season before this effort. Hence, firing Patullo tomorrow would benefit the team by getting Scott Loeffler time to figure out the communications and the system to try to get this offense right. We’ll see what happens the rest of the way; however, this is eerily similar to 2023, and this is scary right now as a fan.
