Green Bay Packers Micah Parsons Makes NFL History; Joins Reggie White As The Only Players To Do This
In the Green Bay Packers’ decisive 23-6 victory over the Minnesota Vikings, star defensive end Micah Parsons didn’t just dominate the game—he etched his name into the NFL record books. By recording two sacks against the Vikings, Parsons reached 10 sacks on the season, a milestone that puts him in elite company.
The performance cemented Parsons as only the second player in NFL history to begin a career with five consecutive seasons of 10 or more sacks. The only other player to accomplish this feat is the legendary Reggie White, who started his NFL career with nine straight double-digit sack seasons.
A Game-Wrecking Performance Micah Parsons
Parsons was a relentless force against the Vikings, consistently putting pressure on rookie quarterback J.J. McCarthy. His impact was felt most profoundly in the second half. After a special teams fumble recovery gave the Packers a 17-6 lead, the defense was unleashed, and Parsons took over.
On the first play of Minnesota’s next possession, Parsons recorded his first sack. On the following series, he terrorized the Vikings’ offensive line again. After blowing past left tackle Christian Darrisaw for his second sack of the day—and 10th of the season—Parsons followed it up by plowing through center Ryan Kelly on the very next play, setting up teammate Devonte Wyatt for another sack. The back-to-back plays effectively stalled any hope of a Vikings comeback. Parsons finished the game with two sacks, three quarterback hits, and was a constant disruption that the Vikings’ offense could not solve.
Defining a Standard of Excellence
For Parsons, reaching double-digit sacks is more than just a number; it’s a baseline for his level of play. “It’s a standard of play,” Parsons said after the game. “I feel like 10 sacks for the standard of player you are, that should be the minimum you should get.”
This achievement marks his 17th career game with two or more sacks, a number that trails only legends like Reggie White, J.J. Watt, and Richard Dent for the most multi-sack games through a player’s first five seasons. Since being traded to Green Bay before the season, Parsons has become the heart of the team’s pass rush. His 10 sacks lead the team and are the first 10-sack season for a Packer since 2020.
As the Packers continue their push for the NFC North title, Parsons’ ability to take over games has become a critical component of their success. His historic consistency and game-changing plays have solidified him as not just the closer for the Packers’ defense, but as one of the most dominant defensive players in the entire league.
