Bo Nix Proved All The Critics Wrong When It Mattered Most
The Denver Broncos have excelled in the NFL but remain underrated by the national media. Before facing the Kansas City Chiefs, many doubted their chances and predicted Bo Nix would struggle under pressure. Instead, Nix threw for over 290 yards, leading his team to a huge division win.
Nix Stepped Up In the Bright Lights
The Broncos’ offense has been struggling to get things going early on in games for multiple weeks. On Thursday Night Football against the Las Vegas Raiders, Nix struggled mightily and looked off balance for the entirety of the game. He was escaping the pocket way too quickly, causing him to miss easy throws. Luckily, their defense prevailed and won them the game.
Heading into last week’s game against the Chiefs, all eyes were on Nix to deliver. Everyone knew the defense could handle Patrick Mahomes, but the question was whether Nix could lead the offense to victory. He ended up doing just that, throwing for 295 yards and not turning the ball over. He was efficient and made the key throws when needed, and looked poised throughout all four quarters.
The game-changing play came when Mahomes was picked off near the end zone by Ja’Quan McMillian, preventing the Chiefs from scoring. Nix made the right decisions and led the Broncos to a game-winning drive in the fourth quarter.
The Broncos Are Legit Contenders
The Denver Broncos are serious Super Bowl contenders this season. They boast the best defense in football and have already shut down last season’s Super Bowl teams—the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles.
With such a strong defense, the offense can perform below average and still win games. When Head Coach Sean Payton opens the playbook and trusts his quarterback, the team makes great plays. Nix shows in every game that he can make key throws late; now he just needs to play good football for all four quarters.
With just six games left in the regular season, the Broncos enter a tight three-way race for the best record in the AFC and the league. They will travel to Washington to face the Commanders on Sunday Night Football next week, then play all their division opponents over the following five weeks.
Denver needs to keep their foot on the gas and make sure the Chargers don’t get back into the division race, as they’re just two games behind. The two teams will face each other on January 4, which marks the final game of the regular season.
