Nico Harrison Fired By Dallas Mavericks, Because Of Course He Was
It’s official. The news we have all been waiting for has been announced. Nico Harrison has been fired by the Mavericks after a 3-8 start to 2025. The Mavs look lost, and everything that could have gone wrong has. Cooper Flagg isn’t having the start everyone thought he would. Klay Thompson has looked washed, and Anthony Davis is still injured!
The Luka Trade
The Luka Doncic trade will go down as the worst trade in sports. It was masterminded by Harrison. Doncic and Austin Reaves have been carrying the Lakers‘ offense as they get off to an 8-3 start, the exact opposite of the Mavs. How poetic.
The Mavs have not only had the worst offensive rating in the league this year, but they have one of the worst relative offenses in NBA history. Now with AD out again, it’ll only get worse! Speaking of.
ESPN and the Nico Harrison Exposé
ESPN, in the offseason, released a story on Harrison. It exposed how he fired a well-respected team doctor who helped the Mavs win in 2011, worked with Team USA to help win Olympic gold, and pushed for players’ recovery time. The team fired him while he was tending to his sick mother.
Offensive Struggles
The Mavs have been struggling on offense this year as Thompson no longer looks like one of the greatest shooters of all time. How much is on Nico Harrison for signing a player so past his prime is up for debate.
Flagg, the most hyped rookie of this class, has been outplayed by the likes of ex-Duke teammate Kon Knueppel and VJ Edgecombe, who was picked 3rd. This is because of Head Coach Jason Kidd’s attempt to replace Doncic and Kyrie Irving.
Flagg, a career wing, has been playing at PG despite having completely different styles, strengths, and weaknesses from Doncic and Irving. This makes me think that if we’re showing Harrison the door, Kidd has got to be the next to go. We will have to wait and see!
