Read on for further details.
Dallas Mavericks Fans Suffer From Early-Season Anxiety
The Dallas Mavericks are one of the NBA’s bottom-feeder teams at the moment, and 47% of Mavericks fans are suffering from early-season anxiety. Though the team is in the middle of the pack in The Grueling Truth’s findings, the team’s outlook appears to be gloomy after the team entered this season with high expectations following the selection of Cooper Flagg.
The Houston Rockets were ranked No. 1 in The Grueling Truth’s survey, with 65% of Rockets fans feeling nervous about this season, yet 64% think the team will reach the NBA Finals.
The Rockets fans’ feelings are valid. The Rockets acquired veteran star Kevin Durant this offseason. The Rockets’ outlook appears to be optimistic. Durant, 37, can help them bolster their young core and competitive edge.
Previously, Houston clinched its first playoff berth and Southwest Division title since 2020. Houston then forced a Game 7 in the first round against the Golden State Warriors, but failed to maintain momentum following a near-comeback.
The Los Angeles Clippers’ fans are the least nervous fanbase. Just 25% of Clippers fans are nervous about the team this season, yet 63% think the team will reach the NBA Finals. That is a stark contrast compared to most other NBA teams’ fanbases in the survey.
Mavericks Fans At Odds With Team
As of November 6, 2025, nine months have passed after the Dallas Mavericks traded Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers. The Mavericks fans’ feelings are a mixed bag, with some deeply distraught and others understanding the business of sport.
Not much has changed since then, but it’s important to note that Flagg can be the new face of the franchise. Flagg, 18, just needs some time to adjust to the NBA. Flagg’s era has a different feel, but he has provided some fans with hope.
Final Thoughts
The Mavericks may or may not have a long-term plan, but it’s important to prioritize the health of players like Kyrie Irving, Dante Exum, and Kyrie Irving. Flagg needs a strong supporting cast around him and a return to the forward position to succeed and potentially become part of the Mavericks’ plan.
At least the Mavericks’ fans are more confident about the team reaching the NBA Finals than the Utah Jazz fans. Just 10% of the Jazz’s fans believe their team will reach the NBA Finals. In contrast, a whopping 81% of Denver Nuggets fans think their team will make the NBA Finals this year. That is the highest confidence level of any fanbase.
