Breaking: Eagles All-Pro Jalen Carter Officially Out of Week 6 vs the Giants

Jalen Carter, star defensive tackle of the Philadelphia Eagles, popped up on the injury report Wednesday afternoon, questionable with a Heel injury. Now, just over an hour before kickoff from MetLife Stadium, Carter has been officially ruled out with that Heel injury. Carter talked with several people during warm-ups and ended up heading back into the locker room without warming up. Here are some of the breakdown and implications of this injury to the Eagles’ star. 

Jordan Davis and Moro Ojomo are going to have to Step Up

Carter talked to several people before the decision came out that he was out, as seen below in a twee from NBC Sports Philadelphia’s Dave Zangaro. Without Carter, Jordan Davis and Moro Ojomo are going to be the guys who have the majority of the snaps for the defensive tackle unit, as Gabe Hall was elevated earlier in the day with the anticipation of this news.  So the Eagles are prepared to play without Carter, but they are going to face a young stud at running back for the New York Giants in Cam Skattebo. Speaking of Skattebo.

Cam Skattebo was going to be the key to the Giants to keep this game close, and with the Carter news, this helps the Giants’ game plan to run the ball immensely. This is going to be the main thing to watch throughout the night to see if the Giants’ run game can keep the Eagles’ offense on the sidelines like the Broncos did four days ago. 

Final Thoughts

This Jalen Carter injury is bad luck for the Giants game, but this is the smart decision for the long-term success of the Eagles going forward, because a heel injury can easily lead to something much worse, like a potential season-ending Achilles tear if not careful, especially at that terrible MetLife Stadium. We will see if this will impact the Eagles in this game tonight.
