Atlanta Falcons Bijan Robinson Setting Sights On “Saquon-Like” Year In 2025
The Atlanta Falcons have one of the best young running backs in the game, Bijan Robinson. Atlanta took him in the top ten for a reason. His dual-threat ability and shiftiness in the open field make him one of the best offensive weapons in the entire league. While he has had some great seasons, the young running back is eyeing greatness. In a recent interview, he stated he is ready for a “Saquon-like” year in 2025.
Atlanta Falcons Bijan Robinson On the 2025 Season
Saquon Barkley is coming off one of the greatest seasons a running back has ever had. He rushed for 2,005 yards and added another 278 receiving yards. The former New York Giant found the end zone 15 times last season. Bijan Robinson’s season went under the radar for some but he wasn’t far off from those numbers. He rushed for 1,456 yards and added 431 receiving yards. The former Texas Longhorn found the end zone 15 times last year. Where Robinson wants to improve is in explosive plays.
This was a staple of Barkley’s season last year. He had many 60+ yard touchdown runs. Bijan Robinson, on the other hand, was 17th in the NFL of runs over 20 yards. He is looking to change that this season. “We all want it. We’re all waiting for that Saquon-type of season when it comes to explosives,” Robinson said in a recent interview. “But I’ve been working on it a lot this offseason. And, obviously, when it gets to the season, it’s time to go show it and go do the work the right way.”
2025 Outlook
The Atlanta Falcons are setting their sights on the division title. New Orleans and Carolina still have some major roster holes, but the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be tough to knock off the top spot. While there are no questions about what Robinson can do in this offense, Michael Penix Jr. still has massive questions. The team benched Kirk Cousins in favor of the 8th overall pick in last year’s draft and he played well.
However, he also struggled at times and only has a handful of games under his belt. If he doesn’t show improvement, the Falcons are going nowhere. With that said, the best friend of any young quarterback is a dynamic running back. Penix Jr. could dump the ball off to his running back and get a big play.
Final Thoughts
Given how much the team has spent to craft this roster, there is pressure to win now. Not only have they spent a ton of money, they also spent significant draft captial to acquire some of the best edge rushers in the 2025 NFL Draft. Can they win the NFC South and get back to the playoffs in 2025?
