The Philadelphia Eagles were one of the teams that were in the conversation for Micah Parsons, but the Dallas Cowboys were unwilling to trade him in the division. There were rumors of this happening last week, but we now know what the trade package looked like. According to FOX NFL Sunday’s Jay Glazer, the Philadelphia Eagles offered a minimum of this package before being declined:
- 2 1st-round picks
- 1 3rd-round pick
- 1 5th-round pick
In the end, the Cowboys traded Parsons to the Green Bay Packers in exchange for two first-round picks and defensive tackle Kenny Clark. It would have been interesting to see Parsons on the same defensive line as players like Jalen Carter, but that did not happen. It makes sense as to why the Dallas Cowboys did not want to see the Philadelphia Eagles get their star defensive player and have to face him at least two times every season.
In-division trades are rare, and it is even more rare for it to include a team’s top player. This one will have to go into the “what if” category, but we know what the offer on the table at least looked like.
