Top 5 Standouts For New York Jets In Preseason Week 3 Game
The New York Jets have officially concluded their preseason games. In Week 3, they faced the Philadelphia Eagles, and unfortunately, they did not achieve the desired results. The Eagles won this game 19-17, and compared to last week, at least it was a much closer result. In this game, the Jets had players who stood out, some for the right reasons, but others for the wrong ones.
1. Can the New York Jets Rely On Adrian Martinez?
The QB play was super mixed for the New York Jets. When looking at Brady Cook and Martinez’s play, it was rough. However, Martinez is the much better quarterback. He was mostly sloppy, but he did help lead this Jets offense to a potential comeback in the second half. However, the stat line is not great as he completed 7-of-14 throws for 86 yards and threw an interception. The Jets better hope Tyrod Taylor can heal up quickly, because it is hard to rely on what the Jets currently have behind Justin Fields.
2. Donovan Edwards Impresses Yet Again
The Jets’ running game was very good in this game, but it was Donovan Edwards who impressed. Not only did he have 26 rushing yards in the game, but he also scored a goal-line touchdown at the end of the game. Edwards showed flashes through the preseason and keeps making the decision harder for the New York Jets on who to keep and who to cut.
3. Whatever Happened To Malachi Corley?
Another game, another performance where Corley was a ghost. He yet again barely played on offense and mainly was on special teams duty. He looked so lost in that game that it’s clear Corley is pretty much not in the long-term plans of the team. It is not an if, but when Corley gets cut at this point, and it’s a shame he has not worked out as a Jet.
4. Malachi Moore May Be a Rookie, But He Showcased His Potential
Out of all the New York Jets that played in this game, it was Malachi Moore who shone and impressed the most. The rookie 4th rounder played a majority of the second quarter and put up some really strong stats, including 7 tackles, an interception, and a pass deflection. He should send a gift card to Kyle McCord for that interception, as that was a horrendous throw by him. Moore even has potential as a special teamer, as he was making great plays as well.
It brought a great reminder to fans of his days in Alabama, and if he plays like that in the regular season, then the Jets really have something in him.
5. Jamaal Pritchett Might Have Secured a Special Teams/Practice Squad Role For the Jets
Jamaal Pritchett had a very mixed performance. However, he showed moments of brilliance in this game. Especially with a special teams role, as while he did muff a punt, that was the only real lowlight. He did get an intriguing shoutout by Aaron Glenn during the postgame press conference. He also looked solid on offense, making 3 receptions for 46 passing yards as well. It sounds like he has secured either a special teams or practice squad role, but time will tell.
Final Thoughts
Well, at least the Jets didn’t get destroyed like they did against the New York Giants in the second week of the 2025 preseason. At least the Jets almost came back at the end of the game, but as a result, their final preseason record is 1-2. Now it’s time for the final cut day, and it won’t be easy for them to do.
