The 2025-26 Season Could Make Or Break Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks
With how things have been looking for Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks recently, it is a bit of an understatement when saying that this next season is huge for both of them. He has been the face of this team for over a decade now. He has won a championship in Milwaukee, multiple MVP awards, and means so much to the organization. For it all to come crumbling down in a way like this is just a shame for the front office and for the fans that have to deal with it.
Why Does This Season Mean So Much For Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks?
Next season could really shape the way each of them moves forward with things, and most likely, each side will take a different path. We might see a shift in the way the Bucks front office is making certain moves, and these moves could be to look toward the future. We are so used to seeing them making moves to get veteran players who are ready to win right now, but that could all change very soon if this year doesn’t go as planned for Milwaukee.
Antetokounmpo has always made it clear to everybody that he prioritizes winning over anything else, and the Bucks know that. Milwaukee has not done a great job at giving him the pieces to go out there and contend for a title since they won back in 2021. Yes, they have been plagued with injuries, and they seem to always come around the worst time, which is when the playoffs were about to start or while they were in the playoffs.
What Does the Future Look Like?
The future could be confusing for both sides. One side wants to go all in for winning right now, and the other does not want to take that risk of giving up all of their future assets to do so. This is why, if the Bucks don’t have a bounce-back year this year and at least make it to the Conference finals, it might be best if they went their own ways with things, as they could both help each other out in getting what they want.
Antetokounmpo would go to a team that is better suited to win championships right now, and the team gets back younger players and draft capital to use down the line, basically starting their whole team from the ground up. The Bucks should be in the hunt to make something happen this season in an Eastern Conference that is as weak as it will ever be. Be on the lookout for how Milwaukee handles certain situations this year and how their attitude towards Antetokounmpo might change as the season goes on.
