Eagles officially hire Elite Joe Douglas as Senior Personnel Director and Advisor to GM Roseman
The Philadelphia Eagles and Joe Douglas have officially reunited. It was announced a little while ago that Douglas was returning to the staff, but on Monday afternoon, the official job title was announced by the team, according to multiple reports. That role is Senior Personnel Director/Advisor to the General Manager. Which is perfect because Douglas has been great with personnel decisions, especially with the draft classes he had with the Jets while he was their GM. Let’s dive into the Joe Douglas experience a bit more.Â
Joe Douglas’ Resume with Personnel Decisions
Joe Douglas was also in Philadelphia during the first Super Bowl era as Vice President of Player Personnel, until he was hired by the Jets in 2019 as their General Manager. Before he was fired this past November, Douglas’s drafting was phenomenal with the following players that he drafted to the Jets that are current pillars on that team: Breece Hall, Sauce Gardner, Garrett Wilson, Alijah Vera-Tucker, etc.Â
He was the man responsible for bringing those guys to the Jets organization. So the fact that he is going to be back in an Eagles Organization that has been the best at drafting the last three years in general, along with the best at acquiring gems that you wouldn’t think would pop off, and you add in a guy that got talents like Wilson, Gardner, etc, back into the mix as a advisor to the best GM in the league in Howie Roseman.Â
Final Thoughts
The Eagles are continuing to acquire great front office talent and have the deepest front office, and gaining back Douglas is going to feed all of the Eagles fans’ egos of saying they are the best team in the NFL from Top to Bottom, bar none, right now. And to be honest, it’s not even close, especially when comparing front offices. The only other front offices that might come close are the Rams and Chiefs, but Philly still clears those teams easily.
