CJ Gardner-Johnson’s Astonishing Comments About Eagles Ahead of 2025 Training Camp
The Philadelphia Eagles and CJ Gardner-Johnson are back in the news once again as the safety took to his Instagram Live and made some, what you call, interesting comments about his former employer and their Super Bowl chances over the weekend. Gardner-Johnson would say this about the Eagles’ potential to win another ring without him in the safety spot. “The Eagles won’t probably see a ring without me,” Gardner-Johnson said. “Y’all saw what happened when I left. I’m popping now. I’m glad I’m in Texas.” Those are some strong words from the former Eagle. Here’s my thoughts on the matter at hand as a DIE HARD EAGLES FAN!
CJ Gardner-Johnson is using the 2023 Collapse Against the Eagles
After Gardner-Johnson left the Eagles the first time in the 2022 season, the Eagles would rely on a rotation of safeties in 2023 and the results were dramatically worse in 2023 because of the rotating pieces and the horrible defensive coordinators that the Eagles had in Sean Desai and Matt Patricia at the end of the YEAR DURING THAT HORRIBLE COLLAPSE!
So, CJ does have a slight point with that, and he has the right to be confident in his abilities as a player. Gardner-Johnson was a DAWG for Philly, and I wish he were still an Eagle, but there has been a reason he has played for four teams now in five seasons since 2021, and this INSTAGRAM LIVE is an example of this situation, the reason being his lack of awareness and ability to maintain a professional demeanor at times.
The 2025 Eagles are DIFFERENT FROM the 2023 team

The old cliche still stands, “Every team is going to be different year-to-year,” and this 2025 team is different from not only the 2024 team with Gardner-Johnson but also the 2023 Collapse team. The 2023 Collapse team didn’t have the secondary depth that this 2025 team is going to have with Quinyon Mitchell, Cooper Dejean, Reed Blankenship as the backbone players, Kelee Ringo as the unproven guy that hadn’t got a chance until potentially now, and either Sydney Brown, or rookie Andrew Mukuba replacing CJGJ this season.
But the Eagles won’t have a change of coordinator on the defensive side of the ball, like they did in 2023! So the defense play might suffer a dip with the void of Gardner-Johnson, but they shouldn’t be the worst in the league in 2025 because of Fangio. Plus, the OFFENSE IS STILL ONE OF THE BEST OFFENSIVE UNITS IN THE LEAGUE! So for CJGJ TO SAY WHAT HE SAID, KNOWING THE DAWGS ON THAT OFFENSIVE SIDE OF THE BALL ARE STILL THERE, SLIGHTY COMES ACROSS AS A GUY WHO’S A BIT SALTY ABOUT THE MOVE STILL!
I don’t blame him, I think he loved Philly and wanted to be there for the rest of his career if he had the option. Like I’ve said, I respect the confidence, but there’s a point you should just move on and focus on the new situation, and help that DeMeco Ryans thrived in 2025.
Final Thoughts
I still love CJGJ as a player and hope one day, he does return to Philly to retire an Eagle. But to say that the Eagles won’t win another Super Bowl because he’s not there is a bit of a ridiculous statement to say, especially with the mastermind responsible for the turnaround in 2024 still at the controls of the 2025 defense.
Also, CJGJ comments probably just became BULLETIN BOARD MATERIAL FOR NICK SIRIANNI TO USE IN THE LOCKER ROOM NOW, along with other comments he’s made this offseason about the situation. The last thing this Eagles fan is going to say in this matter is that I wish CJ Gardner-Johnson all the success in Houston and hope he has a great season for Houston.
