“Gridiron Without Borders” 2025 NFL International Games Announced
The closer we get to May 14, 2025, the more game announcements we get. The NFL announced Tuesday the games that would be played across Europe in Dublin, Ireland, London, U.K., Berlin, Germany, and Madrid, Spain. This is the league’s long-term commitment to driving year-round engagement in international markets. Seven games being played and televised across the globe show how football is growing fast. Let’s dive into the game a little bit deeper and see which matchups will be worth waking up for.
Biggest NFL Showdowns Abroad
All the games for the international slate are set, except for the Week 1 game, where the Los Angeles Chargers are the home team. The biggest takeaway from the slate was that the Vikings will play in two international games this season. The first game the Vikings will play will be on Sept. 28, against the Steelers at Croke Park in Dublin, Ireland.
This will be the country’s first game ever. It will be a big matchup. The following week, on Oct. 5, the Vikings will travel to London to play the Browns at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. A fun fact is that Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is the only stadium built for NFL games outside of the US.
The New York Jets will battle the Denver Broncos at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in 2025. The third and final game in London features the Jaguars facing the Rams at Wembley Stadium on Sunday, Oct. 19. This will be the 14th game played in the capital for the Jags as the team has a multi-year commitment to playing in the UK.
The new city the NFL will play in is Berlin, Germany. The Indianapolis Colts will host the Atlanta Falcons at the Olympic Stadium Berlin on Sunday, Nov. 9. This game is part of the NFL’s commitment to playing regular season games in Germany, and this will be the fifth game played in the market.
There have already been games played in Munich and Frankfurt. The last international game of the 2025 season will be in Madrid, Spain, on Sunday, Nov. 16, with the Dolphins facing the Commanders at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, home of Real Madrid C.F. It will be the first game ever in Spain. There is still one more game to be finalized, and that is who the Chargers will face in São Paulo, Brazil, at Corinthians Arena. The opponent will be named on May 14, with the rest of the 2025 NFL schedule.
Final Thoughts
The international games slated for this year are some amazing ones. The market around the world is growing for NFL games, and it seems to continue growing. The NFL went from zero games to having seven worldwide this season. The matchups showcase some of the best talent in the league.
