Dallas Cowboys Nab Dynamic Texas Running Back In 5th Round Of NFL Draft
The Dallas Cowboys have had some legendary running backs take the field for the franchise. Last year, their running game was non-existent. After moving on from Tony Pollard, the combination of Rico Dowdle and Ezekiel Elliott could not find any type of consistency. Heading into the offseason, running back was a top priority, and many thought they would take a back in the first few rounds. They decided to fill other holes on the roster, but did finally get their running back in the fifth round, Texas running back Jaydon Blue.

The Texas Longhorns had a plethora of running backs, but Blue stood out last season. His dual-threat ability was on display last season as he had over 1,000 scrimmage yards. Blue rushed for 730 yards and five touchdowns while adding 42 receptions for 368 yards and another six touchdowns. He immediately becomes a candidate for the starting running back in week 1 for the Dallas Cowboys.
Last season, the Cowboys ranked 27th in rushing yards per game (100.3) and 30th in yards per rush (4.0). In order for this offense to run well, they need a balanced attack. Some of Prescott’s best years were when he had a strong running game behind him. The hope is that Jaydon Blue can come in and resurrect the running game in Dallas.
Final Thoughts
The Dallas Cowboys have a tall task ahead of them. They have to compete with the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Commanders, who were the last two teams standing in the NFC last year. The New York Giants are also much improved with the draft they are having. Jerry Jones has made some smart picks, and this could end up being another good one.
