What’s Next for Kasey Kahne?
Kasey Kahne texted Keith Rodden, Vice President of competition for Richard Childress Racing, on January 10, 2025. He was inquiring about NASCAR’s return to Rockingham. As previous teammates for almost 15 years, they immediately discussed the possibility of Kasey driving for Richard Childress Racing.
Rodden messaged Danny Lawrence, the Vice President of Alliance Operations and Director of RCR. Kasey Kahne returned to the Xfinity Series for the race at Rockingham Speedway on April 19, 2025. He drove for Richard Childress in the No. 33 car, which Hendrickcars.com sponsored. This was his first NASCAR car race since retiring after the 2008 season and certainly won’t be his last.
Kasey Kahne’s Return to Rockingham
Before the race, a surprise was revealed to him. Kasey Kahne discovered the track had been repaved just two weeks before the race. Kahne told NASCAR.com, “I felt great off the start and was happy with how quickly it came back to me”. It doesn’t feel like I’ve been out of NASCAR as long as I have. “Time flies, and I’m glad to be back doing this race.”
His return to NASCAR, despite health issues that forced him to leave, is a testament to his resilience and determination. Upon his return, Kasey Kahne qualified 4th for the race in Rockingham. His car was damaged during the race when he connected with William Sawalich and Katherine Legge on the track. He finished in 14th place and would’ve finished 15th, but Jesse Love was disqualified.
What’s Next for Kasey?
Kasey Kahne focuses on full-time sprint car racing in the Kubota High Limit Racing Series and owns a sprint car racing team, Kasey Kahne Racing. He is also active in charitable work and is a member of the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation. For the High Limit Series, which he drives now, he drives the No. 9. If you didn’t know, that was the number he started with when he joined NASCAR. He drives that car in his sprint car racing team in Enumclaw, Washington, as of April 19, 2025.
Final Thoughts
Kasey Kahne is open to future NASCAR races, a prospect that excites him and his fans. However, the dirt track remains his passion and primary focus in his career. After six races, he is 8th in the standings, and it’s believed the longest race he has competed in away from NASCAR was an over 40-lap feature. Kahne has achieved multiple successes racing in over 529 races in his NASCAR career, winning 18 and securing 176 top ten finishes.
During most of his NASCAR career, he preferred to keep his personal life private and rarely revealed details other than his racing career. He never married, but did have a longtime girlfriend, Samantha Sheets, who became the mother of their son in October 2015. They eventually split up around 2018, and he later began dating a former sports reporter, Amy Long. Kasey and Amy had a baby girl in 2023.
“I can speak from personal experience as I have been to many NASCAR races, so this article was very special to me to write. I have met Kasey Khane at races on multiple occasions, and he was very friendly but very shy. I hope you enjoy it! Thank you to all NASCAR fans who have supported Kasey over the years! No. 33 all the way!”
