Dallas Cowboys Select Speedy Cornerback In The 3rd Round Of The NFL Draft
The Dallas Cowboys are always under pressure to perform. With an aging quarterback and an expensive roster, the need for cheap talent has become critical. They have had a solid start to the NFL Draft, solidifying their offensive line with Tyler Booker in the first round. However, it was the defense that really let them down last year, and on day two, they have brought in reinforcements. After drafting an edge rusher in the second round, they picked up speedy cornerback Shavon Revel Jr. in the third round.
Dallas Cowboys Nab CB Shavon Revel Jr.
During the college football season, many thought that Shavon Revel Jr. could be a fringe first-round pick. The Eastern Carolina cornerback is one of the fastest players in the draft. However, an ACL injury this season hurt his draft stock. In 2023, he was an elite corner. He had 54 total tackles, 13 passes defended, and one interception. Revel Jr. had two interceptions this year before he tore his ACL.
For the Dallas Cowboys, they get a potential steal in the draft. They couldn’t stop anyone last year with injuries in the secondary, causing them to get blown out every week. Revel Jr. has the potential to be the CB1 on this defense right away. Assuming his medicals are okay, this is a great pick for Jerry Jones and the Cowboys.
Final Thoughts
The Dallas Cowboys have had a solid start to the draft. While Jones deserves his share of criticism for some of his draft picks and offseason moves, he has done well to fill needs on the roster. If Dak Prescott can come back healthy, this team could make some noise in a tough NFC East. The pressure is on for the Cowboys to win, and the division hasn’t been this good in a long time. Will this draft be enough to push them over the edge?
