Los Angeles Rams select Oregon Tight End Terrance Ferguson with Pick 46
The Los Angeles Rams get their future tight end pass catcher in Terrance Ferguson with the 46th pick in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft. Veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford gets another weapon on top of wide receivers Puka Nacua, veteran Davante Adams, and Tutu Atwell. However, I wouldn’t expect him to start anytime soon, as he might be a part-time contributor at first before making a big impact in this offense with the amount of playmakers they have.
Rams select Terrance Ferguson with Pick 46
LA gets another pass-catching weapon for Stafford with Ferguson. This isn’t a bad selection, as they upgrade at a position they were lacking last year. It is interesting, though, as they paid Colby Parkinson last offseason and have veteran Tyler Higbee, along with Davis Allen, who they drafted two seasons ago.
The 22-year-old tied the Oregon Ducks’ record for most catches for the position and has a good blend of size, speed, and receiving prowess. The senior at 6’5″ and 247 lbs can be groomed into an eventual starter. However, he does lack some blocking ability, so expect Ferguson to line up out wide as a move tight end in this Sean McVay offense.
Final Thoughts
This was an ok pick that fills a need, but I am not sure how the profile stacks up to players that were on the board. With the Ducks, Ferguson had 1,537 career receiving yards, 134 receptions, 16 touchdowns, and averaged 11.5 yards per catch. He had his best season in 2024, with 591 yards on 43 catches with three touchdowns, and was All-Big 10. The season prior, he was All-Pac-12, but last two seasons, he had to deal with some injuries that led to some missed games.
So far, for tight ends, it’s been Colston Loveland to the Chicago Bears and Tyler Warren to the Indianapolis Colts in the first round. In the second round, Mason Taylor was taken by the New York Jets a few picks before the Rams took Ferguson. Expect them to focus on the offensive line or the secondary in the coming picks.
