The New York Giants Traded Back in 2025 First Round For a Dart
The Houston Texans traded with the New York Giants for the 25th pick in the first round on Thursday. The Texans got the 34th, 99th, and a third-rounder in 2026. The speculation the Giants would trade back in for a quarterback ran rampant throughout the week. It just happened for another Ole Miss prospect like their future Hall of Famer Eli Manning, in Jaxson Dart.Â
The New York Giants Select Jaxson Dart At Pick No. 25
Dart had 4,279 passing yards, 29 touchdowns, and 6 interceptions in 2024 for the Ole Miss Rebels. He almost led them to the College Football Playoff last year, but ended up falling just short. He is one of those interesting prospects that have been getting a bunch of attention leading up to the 2025 first round. The Giants had inside knowledge of the quarterback with connections to Ole Miss, including former Head Coach Joe Judge.Â
He is used to some cold weather thanks to his high school career being in Kaysville, Utah. Dart fits the team well from a weather standpoint. He is the third Ole Miss QB to be selected in the first round. The other two were Archie and Eli Manning. New York likes the Manning/Ole Miss connection that they have built since 2004. The Ole Miss product could learn from Head Coach Brian Daboll and Super Bowl Champion Russell Wilson.
Final Thoughts
He is a better fit for the cold weather than Shedeur Sanders is, and the Giants need a guy who can be better in cold weather. Also, Dart is one of those players who could be an interesting quarterback prospect down the road for the team. I wouldn’t start him right away, especially with Wilson there. This is a good pick by the Giants in my estimation. Total Apex Sports is the place to be for more NFL Draft coverage throughout the weekend.Â
