Detroit Lions Select DT Tyleik Williams With 28th Overall Pick
The Detroit Lions are coming off one of the best seasons in franchise history. Unfortunately, it ended prematurely when they lost to the Washington Commanders in the playoffs. Now, after losing both their coordinators in the offseason, they have to gear up and try to make it to the franchise’s first Super Bowl. One of the areas where they need some help is the defensive line. Aidan Hutchinson is great, but they need some more juice on the line. They got it at pick 28, selecting Ohio State defensive lineman Tyleik Williams.
Detroit Lions Select Tyleik Williams With 28th Overall Pick
The Detroit Lions have plenty of firepower on offense. While more weapons are never a bad thing, that unit seems set. The defensive line could use some help to disrupt the potentially elite offenses in their division. Last season, he had 46 total tackles, 2.5 sacks, and eight tackles for loss. He was a part of the elite defense that won the national championship last season for the Buckeyes.
We’ve seen it time and time again in the NFL. The team that wins in the trenches usually comes out on top. For years, the Detroit Lions have dominated on offense with their superior line, and they hope to do the same on the defensive side of the ball. If everyone comes back healthy, this unit shows they can be elite. The loss of defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn is concerning, but the unit still has plenty of talent to compete with the best.
Final Thoughts
The Detroit Lions have a Super Bowl window. Unfortunately for them, they have one of the toughest divisions to get through. All three teams have made massive upgrades, hoping to take the division crown. Can the Lions make another run at a Super Bowl, or will we see some regression out of a team that lost some key members of their coaching staff?
