Saints Select OT Kelvin Banks Jr. with the No. 9 Pick in the 2025 NFL Draft

The 2025 NFL draft has been full of fireworks from the beginning. The Saints had a hot start but fell late in the season to 5-12, landing themselves in the 9th pick in the draft. The team has many needs to fill on its roster. Many fans and spectators wondered what New Orleans would do with their top-10 pick. Saints Play It Safe With Kelvin Banks Jr. In 2025 NFL Draft

The Saints had one of the oldest rosters in the league in 2024 and have a lot of needs at various positions in this draft. They revamped their coaching staff, bringing in Kellen Moore from Philadelphia. The Saint’s most obvious need is at QB but they have various other needs including the offensive and defensive line and secondary. With the 30th-ranked defense and the 27th-ranked offense last season there’s a lot of room for improvement. Kelvin Banks Jr. will hopefully be a foundational piece for them to build around as they look for a QB. Banks is a natural pass protector and a physical presence in the run game.  

Saints Building the Foundation of a Future Contender 

The New Orleans Saints have selected Kelvin Banks Jr. with the 9th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Going into the draft, it was known that the Saints needed a QB; they had inadequate play at the QB position last season with a passing attack that ranked 23rd in the league. However, with players like Jaxson Dart likely to be available to select in the second round, they went to the offensive line at number nine. Now Kelvin Banks Jr. is a member of the New Orleans Saints. The Saints are also facing massive salary cap issues in the coming years due to void years on the older players’ veteran contracts. We can only wait and see where they will go in later rounds and navigate this rebuild.
