Jalen Brunson Named 2024-25 Clutch Player of the Year
New York Knicks Guard Jalen Brunson was named the 2024-25 Clutch Player of the Year, as announced on TNT’s Tip-Off show before the Magic vs Celtics Game 2. Brunson is one of those players in the clutch who always seems to come out on top, and he is very worthy of this year’s award for Clutch Player of the Year.
Denver Nuggets Center Nikola Jokic finished second, and Minnesota Timberwolves Guard Anthony Edwards finished third. Brunson’s clutch play has been a reason why the Knicks have been one of the top teams over the last couple of years. It is a great thing he is getting recognized for it.Â
Jalen Brunson’s Clutch Numbers In 2024-25Â
In 2024-25, Brunson was the league’s leading scorer in the clutch, averaging 5.6 points per game, which is defined by the league as possessions in the last five minutes of the fourth quarter and overtime when the game is within five points. As the Knicks were in many of those situations throughout this season, he was the guy who was called upon to make things happen.
He had 52 field goals made, 156 total points, and 28 assists in those situations on 51.5% shooting from the field and 84% from the free throw line. Those stats are crazy when you look at the details of the Knicks’ season as a whole. Brunson was first in the field goals made stat, second in points, and third in assists in the clutch this season. He easily won the award with 70 first-place votes and finished with 426 points.Â
Final Thoughts
Brunson earned the Clutch Player of the Year award easily and is the most deserving guy this season based on the numbers. The Knicks look to continue their playoff run on the back of Brunson as they look to improve from last season’s semifinal finish.
I’m sure Brunson is going to have to be clutch in some of those moments, and I believe that the Clutch Player of the Year is worthy of the trust that the Knicks put into him in those moments.
