Aaron Rodgers Provides Update on Future Amid Pittsburgh Steelers Rumors
One of the bigger stories heading into the NFL Draft is someone not involved with it at all. Instead, the future of future Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers has been discussed as he has been linked to the Pittsburgh Steelers as a potential landing spot. On Thursday afternoon, he appeared on “The Pat McAfee Show” and discussed his future and people were excited to see what the four-time NFL MVP was going to say and if a potential announcement was happening. Let’s dive into what Aaron Rodgers said and what it means.
Aaron Rodgers Discusses 2025 Plans

Aaron Rodgers has been a focal point of the NFL discussion and he opened up about still not being sure about playing in 2025, but everything was still on the table. However, his contract is not going to be an issue in regards to how much money he would be making.
“I told every single one of the teams, it ain’t about the money. I said I’ll play for $10M. Whatever. … I’m open to anything and attached to nothing. Retirement could still be a possibility. Focus on personal life.”
This is something that Rodgers has seemingly been able to do over the last few years as even with the New York Jets, he restructured his contract and essentially took a $35 million pay cut. However, this leaves a lot of different options on the table. Rodgers finished the 2024 season completing 358 of 584 (63.0%) of his passes for 3,897 yards with 28 passing touchdowns to 11 interceptions. However, the Jets decided to cut him and move on with their new regime getting a fresh start in general manager Darren Mougey and coach Aaron Glenn.
What will the Pittsburgh Steelers do in the 2025 NFL draft now?
The Pittsburgh Steelers are one of the frontrunners to sign Aaron Rodgers if he does decide to play again. However, the team’s quarterback situation is not looking good as they wait to see what Rodgers decides. Their quarterback situation currently is Mason Rudolph and Skylar Thompson, so do not be surprised to see the team draft a quarterback regardless of what Rodgers winds up doing.
The Steelers have been one of the teams that have been linked to multiple quarterbacks in the NFL draft, including Shedeur Sanders if he falls to them as well as Jalen Milroe. The team currently holds the 21st pick in the 2025 NFL draft so this will be interesting to see what the front office decides to do with the pick.
