Gaines finished with 17 total tackles and 1 sack. He had the best game of his season in the Wild Card Round against the Washington Commanders. Gaines finished with 6 tackles and 2.5 stuffs, a career high.
Gaines has had stints with the Rams and Buccaneers over his NFL career. He was a contributor to the Rams winning Super Bowl LVI. During the 2021-22 regular season, he had a career-high 55 tackles and 4.5 sacks. Gaines has 163 career tackles and 12.5 sacks. Tampa Bay Buccaneers Offseason Outlook
The Buccaneers have one of the NFL’s longest playoff streaks at five straight seasons. Tampa Bay has had a strong offseason. They re-singed Wide Receiver Chris Godwin to a team-friendly deal. Tampa Bay also retained Linebacker Lavonte David and signed Defensive End Haason Reddick.
Gaines returns to a Buccaneers defense that was one of the worst units against the pass. They were 28th in that department last season. The defense struggled to contain Commanders Quarterback Jayden Daniels in Tampa’s home playoff loss. Even though the Buccaneers were near the top of the league in sacks, they struggled in the secondary.

Gaines is a solid signing for the team. He will provide Tampa Bay with defensive line depth heading into 2025. Gaines will look to have more of an impact if called upon. He has proven over his career he can be a great contributor to a winning team.
