Miami Dolphins Waive Wide Receiver Odell Beckham Jr.

The Miami Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins waived Wide Receiver Odell Beckham Jr. earlier today. The parties reportedly agreed that it would be better to go their separate ways. He has never gotten off the ground in his lone season with Miami. Beckham Jr. signed a one-year $3 million contract with the Miami Dolphins during the offseason. He has jumped around the league after spending time with the Los Angeles Rams and Baltimore Ravens in recent years.

He sat out for the first part of the 2024 season with a knee injury. He made his season debut on October 6 against the New England Patriots. Beckham Jr. has 9 catches for 55 receiving yards this season with the Dolphins. He wants to latch onto a contender for the final weeks of the regular season and an NFL Playoff push. Beckham Jr. will remain on waivers until Monday. What team will he end up signing with?

Miami Dolphins Season Summary

It has been a disappointing season for the Miami Dolphins(6-7). Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa missed six weeks after suffering another concussion and the team struggled in his absence. Miami now has an 11% chance to make the NFL Playoffs heading into the final month of the regular season. Their offense has been middling this season as they are 19th in total yards and 23rd in points per game.

Miami’s defense has been the strength of their team this season. They are ninth in yards allowed and 14th in points allowed. The team will not miss Beckham Jr. as he was never an integral part of their offense this season.

Final Thoughts

The Miami Dolphins visit the Houston Texans on Sunday. Miami has no margin of error if they want to make the NFL Playoffs for the third consecutive season. The NFL world will patiently wait to see where Beckham Jr. lands to finish off the year.
