Denver Broncos Rookie QB Makes History With 2024 Season

Denver Broncos

Denver Broncos Quarterback Bo Nix is in the midst of one of the best stretches in National Football League history. Nix is one of only five quarterbacks over the past decade with 20+ total touchdowns and two or fewer touchdowns over an eight-game span. Since Week 5 against the Las Vegas Raiders, Nix has 17 total touchdowns (15 passing and 2 rushing) and 2 interceptions. This performance puts Nix on a list alongside four of the best quarterbacks to ever play football. Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, Tom Brady, and Patrick Mahomes.

Nix has played well in his rookie season for the Denver Broncos after being drafted 12th overall out of the University of Oregon. He is 13th in the league in passing yards and 11th in touchdown passes. He is continuing to close the gap on Washington Commanders Quarterback Jayden Daniels to be named the 2024 NFL Offensive Rookie Of the Year. These two players are going in opposite directions and Nix has five games left to overtake Daniels for this prestigious award. Will Nix continue playing well as the Denver Broncos make a playoff push?

Denver Broncos Season Summary

Nix is one of the reasons why the Denver Broncos(7-5) are the No. 7 seed in the AFC Playoffs. Denver has a 73% chance to qualify for the postseason. Denver’s offense has not been explosive this season, but they have been able to make key plays this year, and Nix is a large part of that. The offense is 23rd in the league in total yards per game and 19th in points per game. Head Coach Sean Payton has done a great job this season helping steer the Denver Broncos offense back to a winning recipe.

While Nix and the offense have been a surprise this season, the defense of the Denver Broncos has been one of the league’s best units in 2024. This came as a shock as Denver’s defense struggled last year, including allowing the Miami Dolphins to score 70 points in September 2023. It has been a much different unit this season. They are third in total yards surrendered per game, third in points allowed per game, and are leading the league in sacks. This defense has been the driving force of the Denver Broncos this season.

Final Thoughts

Denver, and Nix, will face a tough test on “Monday Night Football” against the Cleveland Browns. Cleveland has one of the NFL’s best defenses as it will pose the stiffest test of Nix’s young career. Even though Cleveland’s defense is not as strong as in years past, Nix must not take them lightly.

Nix’s performance in 2024 illustrates that he can be a franchise QB for the Denver Broncos for years to come. The team has been in the quarterback wilderness since Peyton Manning retired in 2015. Denver also sent a boatload of draft picks to the Seattle Seahawks to acquire Russell Wilson. Unfortunately, Wilson’s tenure with the Denver Broncos did not go well as it was an ill-fated two-year stint. The team has seemingly found their long-term solution in Nix.
