The Green Bay Packers are preparing to take on the Chicago Bears on Sunday. While there have been some challenges this season, the team sits at 6-3 with a great shot at making the playoffs for the second straight year. One of the things the Packers have had to deal with is injuries. In the loss to the Detroit Lions a few weeks ago, they were missing key members of their secondary. Even Jordan Love has had nagging injuries throughout the season. The team will be without first-round pick Jordan Morgan for at least four weeks, as the team announced he would be placed on injured reserve.
Green Bay Packers Place Jordan Morgan On IR
Jordan Morgan has been dealing with a shoulder issue all season. He has appeared in six games this season and was the starter in one of them. The lineman out of Arizona has played right guard for most of the year, and it seems to be the spot the franchise wants him in the long term. Unfortunately, he will now miss at least the next four games, signaling this shoulder issue has not gotten better. On Friday, head coach Matt LaFleur expressed disappointment in how the rehab has gone.
“Unfortunate and so we’re kind of going through that process right now of what’s next. So, we’re just working through it right now.”
It doesn’t mean his season is done. The hope is he could return for the home stretch of the season as the Green Bay Packers try to solidify their playoff position. The bummer is continuity on the offensive line is a huge advantage. With all the pieces being subbed in and out, it can be difficult to make sure everyone is on the same page.
Other Injuries
Jordan Morgan isn’t the only rookie dealing with injuries in his rookie year. Third-round pick MarShawn Lloyd just got back from his stint on the injured reserve and was slated to appear in the game on Sunday. Unfortunately, he woke up on Friday with abdominal pain and ended up needing an emergency appendectomy. LaFleur was hoping to have the electric back at his disposal against Chicago.
“You can’t make this stuff up. Unfortunately, he had appendicitis. It’s a shame because he was making progress. But he’ll rebound. I’m confident in that. That’s what I told him. But it is a shame, certainly.”
While this stinks for Lloyd, the Green Bay Packers still have Josh Jacobs, who is racking up the yards in his first year in Green Bay. The Packers hope both players can come back healthy and help them later in the season. While the team has started 0-2 in the division, they hope they can make a late run at the division. If not, they have shown they can win as a wild card team.
