The Buffalo Bills and fantasy football owners will be without a key starter in Week 10. Last week against the Miami Dolphins, it was Amari Cooper who was out due to a wrist injury. This week, it’s Keon Coleman who suffered a significant wrist injury from former Buffalo Bill Jordan Poyer. The wide receiver room for the Buffalo Bills has taken a major hit over the last two weeks. The major question is, how long will their star receivers be out?
Keon Coleman Out Sunday
The Buffalo Bills will be without their star rookie wide receiver this week in a pivotal AFC matchup against the Indianapolis Colts. Wide Receiver Keon Coleman left Sunday’s game against the visiting Miami Dolphins late in the fourth quarter due to a wrist injury. He suffered the injury on a hit from Jordan Poyer. Poyer was flagged for unnecessary roughness, which led Buffalo to an opportunity to kick the game-winning 61-yard field goal by Tyler Bass.
After Sunday’s win, Coleman went to get examined by the medical training staff. He was seen leaving the stadium in a cast. On Monday, it was announced that Keon Coleman would require additional examination to determine the severity of his injury. He was the lone player who did not practice on Wednesday or Thursday for the Buffalo Bills.
His status for Sunday is in jeopardy. Head coach Sean McDermott stated that Keon Coleman’s recovery could be multiple weeks but will have more details today. During a community event in Erie County, New York, earlier this week, Coleman was seen with a heavy cast on his wrist. The cast is similar to the same one worn by Amari Cooper, who is dealing with a similar injury.
Other Injury News
Elsewhere in the receiving room, Amari Cooper has been limited throughout the week with a wrist injury. Cooper suffered the injury in Buffalo’s Week 8 31-10 road victory over the Seattle Seahawks. In two games, Cooper has caught five passes for 69 yards and a touchdown. Buffalo’s options at wide receiver are thin if both Cooper and Keon Coleman are out for Sunday’s road game against the Indianapolis Colts. The Bills have used two practice squad elevations on WRs Tyrell Shavers and Jalen Virgil, meaning that if Buffalo elevated either one of them, they couldn’t for the remainder of the regular season.
Buffalo has two options that could be elevated for Sunday. Deon Cain and K.J. Hamler have not been called up to the active roster this season. With offseason signee Curtis Samuel struggling to find a role in the Bills offense, the franchise could call up Hamler to add speed to the offense. In the final home preseason game against the Carolina Panthers, he was utilized as a gadget player. Not only did he line up as a receiver, but he lined up in the backfield. Could he be the answer for the Bills’ struggles with separation?
Final Thoughts
The Buffalo Bills play a critical game this week against the Indianapolis Colts. Buffalo is looking to keep pace with Kansas City and Baltimore as they battle for an opportunity to hoist their first Super Bowl. Keon Coleman’s wrist injury will more than likely last past this week. Head Coach Sean McDermott stated in his press conference today that Coleman does not know how far into the future the injury will go.
Buffalo has a crucial game next week against the Kansas City Chiefs in their quest to win home-field advantage in the AFC. The franchise will need to be at full capacity in their wide receiver room to compete with Kansas City. While Coleman’s injury is serious, Buffalo could be playing it cautious and holding out their wide receivers this week to be at full capacity next week. We will continue to update you on Keon Coleman and Amari Cooper’s status as soon as more information is provided.
