Philadelphia Eagles Having a Spectacular 2024 Season

The Philadelphia Eagles have gotten off to a strong start this season.

The Philadelphia Eagles are in second place in the NFC East with a 6-2 record but have separated themselves from the rest of the league in 2024 in a certain metric. Philadelphia is the only team in the league to rank in the top six in both total offense and total defense this season. The Eagles are sixth in the league in total offense with 377.1 yards per game and third in the league in total defense surrendering 290.1 yards per game.

Philadelphia is one of the NFL’s hottest teams as they ride a four-game win streak heading into Week 10. This win streak has featured defeats of the Cleveland Browns, New York Giants, Cincinnati Bengals, and Jacksonville Jaguars. This win streak was necessary for the Philadelphia Eagles as Head Coach Nick Sirianni was on the hot streak heading into the team’s Week 5 bye. Will the Philadelphia Eagles be able to keep up their high level of play as the second half of the regular season kicks off?

Philadelphia’s offense has been led by Running Back Saquon Barkley this season. The star running back signed a three-year $37.75 million contract with the Philadelphia Eagles during the 2024 NFL Offseason. This investment has paid off well so far as Barkley is fourth in carries, second in rushing yards, and tied for seventh in rushing touchdowns. While Philadelphia’s offense has been good this season it is not all positive. Quarterback Jalen Hurts has struggled at times this season. He has a 10-4 TD-INT ratio but is 20th in the league in passing yards. He has thrown for under 200 yards three times in 2024.

The Philadelphia Eagles defense, following a miserable second half of the 2023 season, has improved greatly under the stewardship of Defensive Coordinator Vic Fangio. Philadelphia’s defense is seventh in the league against the pass and fifth against the run. Philadelphia’s defense struggled through the first four games as they surrendered 29+ points in two of their first four games.

On the contrary, Philly’s defense has surrendered 59 total points over their four-game winning streak. A standout on the Philadelphia Eagles this season has been Linebacker Zack Baun. Philadelphia’s defense must continue playing well over the second half.

Final Thoughts

The Philadelphia Eagles will look to win their fifth straight game on Sunday when they visit the divisional rival Dallas Cowboys. This matchup got considerably easier with Quarterback Dak Prescott sidelined for the next month with a hamstring injury. With that being said, a divisional matchup is never easy regardless of whom is under center.

Philadelphia will be fighting with the Washington Commanders in the second half of the regular season for the NFC East. Regardless of which team wins the division title, the Philadelphia Eagles look poised to make the NFL Playoffs for the fourth consecutive season.
