Rahal Lanigan Letterman Racing Eyeing Redemption In 2025

Rahal Lanigan Letterman Racing is looking to have a successful 2024.

Rahal Lanigan Letterman Racing is eyeing redemption in 2025 after the FBI raided their Zionsville, Indiana headquarters in September. In an ongoing investigation, a former Andretti Global employee hired as a senior engineer was accused of illegally transferring intellectual property to Rahal Letterman Lanigan. Three-time IndyCar champion and co-owner Bobby Rahal is ready to move past that and hopes to bring more wins to the team after an uneventful 2024 season.

Rahal is disappointed in his team’s performance this year, and redeeming himself is the first step in helping guide the NTT Series IndyCar team in a positive direction after such bad publicity. Will the recent addition of Louis Foster be what it takes to move past the disappointment that all three of the team’s drivers failed to place in the top ten this year and secured a lone podium?

Eyeing Improvements For 2025

According to Bobby Rahal, Rahal Lanigan Letterman should focus primarily on how the team can improve in 2025. After losing Christian Lundgaard to Arrow McLaren for the upcoming season and scrambling to find a replacement, signing 21-year-0ld British standout Louis Foster on October 9 seemed like the right move.

Rahal is optimistic about Foster’s contribution to the NTT Series team starting in March at the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg. He even mentioned that the rising talent was chosen over other seasoned drivers due to the many wins he’s garnered at such a young age. One of Foster’s most notable wins at the Milwaukee Mile in August put him on Rahal’s radar because it’s a tough oval to beat.

Foster also tested as one of the fastest on oval tracks in St. Louis earlier this year and fourth fastest on October 11 at Indianapolis Motorspeedway. The 21-year-old already has nine victories, 19 podiums, four pole positions, and won 8 of 14 races during his time in Indy NXT with Andretti Global. Rahal Lanigan Letterman Racing has fared well on the street and road course, but ovals are still a struggle, according to Bobby Rahal.

How Losing Pietro Fittpaldi Will Have An Impact

Even though Rahal Lanigan Letterman Racing is excited about the future and success of the partnership with Louis Foster after losing Christian Lungaard they may unfortunately be losing Pietro Fittpaldi. When asked about his plans for next season, he clarified that he wasn’t sure if he would return to the NTT IndyCar series as a driver for Rahal Lanigan Letterman.

However, this doesn’t mean he’s stepping away from Indy entirely. Fittpalid has been seeking other opportunities and will test for a spot with Arrow McLaren alongside his 23-year-old brother Enzo, who is opting for an Indy career. On the contrary, the genuine concern with a possible move that only gives Rahal Lanigan Letterman racing is that it gives them only four months before the start of the upcoming season to find a replacement.

The team is all about making money and earning sponsors, and without anyone behind the wheel of the No. 30, this won’t happen. Even so, it’s rumored that 24-year-old Devlin DeFrancesco will take over the seat in the Dallara Honda next season as Fittpaldi eyes other options. Even though he knows transitioning so late in the game will be complex, he’s up for the challenge and the possibility of competing with his younger brother.

Final Thoughts

Rahal Lanigan Letterman owner Bobby Rahal knows the time has its work cut for the upcoming 2025 season and the possibility of replacing yet another driver, Pietro Fittpaldi, who has plans to test with Arow McLaren. Not a single driver secured a top-ten finish or placement in 2024. The team struggled on oval tracks like the Indianapolis 500 and Milwaukee Mile at Rahal Lanigan Letterman, leaving themselves and their owners disappointed.

They’re hoping that securing a multi-year contract with Indy NXT champ Louis Foster, who is well-seasoned on ovals, will give them the edge to dig them out of the struggles they faced over the last season, as well as the potential addition of Devlin DeFrancesco should Fittpaldi decide to join his brother Enzo at Arrow McLaren. More information will be provided as it’s available.
