Dallas Mavericks Point Guard Luka Doncic recently praised Houston Rockets Guard Jalen Green for his performance on Thursday night. Doncic, 25, and the Mavericks suffered a heartbreaking loss to Green, 22, and the Rockets at the American Airlines Center. Green led the Rockets with 23 points, 12 rebounds, and four assists in 36 minutes of play.
Through five games, Green is averaging 27.6 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game while shooting 43.1% from the field and 40.7% from three-point range. Although the NBA season is young, Green’s positives outweigh any potential negatives. It’s perfectly understandable why Doncic praised Green, so read on for further information.
Luka Doncic Gives Praise
After the Dallas Mavericks’ loss to the Houston Rockets on Thursday night, Luka Doncic could’ve taken a shot at Jalen Green, but Doncic gave praise to Green. Green’s continuance of his hot start in the Mavericks vs. Rockets game was noteworthy, as he scored 23 points and grabbed 12 rebounds.
Mavericks insider Grant Afseth posted on X that Doncic said, “He’s a great player … He’s young, very athletic, he can shoot, he can do a lot of things on the floor. We wanted to double him in the beginning, and then he just played really well.”
Green has been on a hot streak in the first five games of the 2024-25 NBA season. Green’s in his fourth season in the league after the Rockets selected him with the second overall pick of the 2021 NBA Draft. The now-22-year-old attended and played boys’ basketball at San Joaquin Memorial High School in Fresno, California, and Prolific Prep in Napa, Calif.
Jalen Green’s Performance
Jalen Green’s notable performance in the Houston Rockets’ away game at the Dallas Mavericks justified that Green was the second overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft for the right reason. Green has been contributing to a rebuilding Rockets team that traded Point Guard James Harden to the Brooklyn Nets in 2021.
Green has exploded offensively in short-lived stretches in the past. The Rockets might need to hit the panic button in the future. But, for now, Green is capable after showing the public how dangerous of a Shooting Guard he could be in the NBA.
Luka Doncic Shows Sportsmanship
Luka Doncic showed sportsmanship to Jalen Green, which was a great example for fans and individuals in general. Doncic was impressed by Green’s performance on Thursday night. Green was especially strong in the final minutes of the Dallas Mavericks vs. Houston Rockets game at the American Airlines Center.
Both the Mavericks and Rockets are 3-2 to open the 2024-25 NBA season as of Friday night. Green’s scoring per game recently ranked in the NBA’s top 10, which was the cherry on top. The Mavericks play again on Sunday at home against the Orlando Magic while the Houston Rockets host a red-hot Golden State Warriors team tomorrow night.
