Sergei Bobrovsky Gets 400th NHL Win Against New York Rangers

The Florida Panthers played the New York Rangers Thursday night at Madison Square Garden. It was a rematch of the Eastern Conference Finals. The Florida Panthers beat the Rangers 3-1 and Goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky notched his 400th NHL win. Bobrovsky faced 25 shots and 10 of the shots were considered “high danger” shots.  He put on a great show to reach this milestone. Sergei Bobrovsky continues to impress everyone from around the NHL and its fanbases. Will he be able to have continued success this season?

Sergei Bobrovsky Reaches 400th NHL Win

Sergei Bobrovsky now becomes the 14th goaltender in league history to reach the achievement, joining former Florida Panthers Goalies Roberto Luongo and Ed Belfour, who have the fourth and fifth most wins of all time. When Bobrovsky was asked about the milestone he replied in his usual fashion “At the moment, I don’t think much about that,” Bobrovsky said of winning 400 games. “It’s a big two points for us, we just beat a really good team.”

Sergei Bobrovsky is entering his 15th NHL season and sixth with the Florida Panthers. Bobrovsky has also won a pair of Vezina Trophies as the league’s top goaltender, he’s a three-time NHL All-Star and, now also a Stanley Cup Champion after leading the Florida Panthers to victory over the Edmonton Oilers. It is safe to say Sergei will be in the Hockey Hall of Fame when he does decide to hang up the skates and retire.

Putting the Achievement In Context

Sergei Bobrovsky accomplished the feat in his 707th contest, surpassing Rangers legend Henrik Lundqvist, who needed 727 games to reach the milestone. “It’s special,” Bobrovsky said, “If you look at the list, those guys are legends. It’s definitely a privilege to be on the same with them.” Bobrovsky is the first Russian goaltender to reach the mark. He passed Evgeni Nabokov as the nation’s all-time winningest goaltender in 2023.

Bobrovsky has one more year left in his contract with the Panthers and turned 36 this month. It would not be shocking if he does want to play hockey until he is 40 years old. No matter how long Bobrovsky decides to keep playing, he’s got a massive fan club of Panthers fans in South Florida and beyond with fans from the Columbus Blue Jackets fanbase and all around the NHL.

The Florida Panthers are on a five-game road trip and will visit the New York Islanders on Saturday night before heading to Buffalo and then their Global Series in Finland against the Dallas Stars. Sergei Bobrovsky will try to rack up more wins to his resume not only on the road trip but the rest of the season. He is one of the fastest goaltenders to reach the milestones that he has already achieved. He has also broken Florida Panthers franchise records. “Brick Wall Bob” will continue with his journey this season.
