Cristiano Ronaldo Dedicates Latest Al Nassr Goal to his Father

Al Nassr won 2-1 thanks to Cristiano Ronaldo, who paid a touching homage to his late father after scoring the winning goal for his team on his father’s birthday, carrying his team to victory in the AFC Champions League over Al-Rayyan. The Portuguese star secured a crucial victory for his team but also produced a memorable moment with a heartfelt tribute to his deceased father.

In Monday night’s AFC Champions League match, the football sensation Cristiano Ronaldo scored the decisive goal that secured Al-Nassr’s 2-1 victory over Al-Rayyan. Following his goal, he celebrated by pointing to the sky in a heartfelt tribute to his late father. Despite having a troubled relationship with him before his early demise, Ronaldo has always been extremely grateful for his late father.

After securing the victory for Al Nassr, the former Real Madrid man said in the presser, “Today’s goal has a different flavor… I wish my father was alive because today is his birthday.” While Ronaldo’s goal had an emotional tinge to it, the 39-year-old goal machine was still able to celebrate his seventh goal in eight outings in all competitions, and it appears age seems to be of no trouble for the Al Nassr forward. Even at his age, Ronaldo is still relentless and providing for his squad as they strive to compete in Saudi Arabia.

After scoring the winning goal in the AFC Champions League, Ronaldo has reached the remarkable milestone of 904 career goals. He looks to be in sensational form as he sets his eyes on the ultimate goal of scoring 1000 career goals before finally hanging his boots. One can’t argue that it might actually be possible, considering the stellar standards of the all-timer.

Ronaldo’s Relationship with His Late Father

Ronaldo had a complicated and emotional connection with his father, José Dinis Aveiro, who died in 2005 when the Al Nassr forward was only 20 years old. José Dinis was a soldier who was a part of the Portuguese colonial wars in Africa, which left him both physically and mentally traumatic. His return to Portugal was tarnished by difficulties, mainly with alcoholism, which led to his death from liver failure at the age of 51. This greatly affected Ronaldo, who felt that alcoholism was a barrier between his and his father’s connection, resulting in a troubled relationship.

Despite their difficult connection, Ronaldo has no regrets in his life except that his father did not witness his monumental success in football. He went on from a difficult childhood to be one of the greatest players of all time, alongside the likes of Diego Maradona and Lionel Messi. He has expressed his sadness and regret, especially in an interview with Piers Morgan, where he broke down in tears.

What’s Next for Ronaldo and Al Nassr?

Ronaldo returns to action in the Saudi Pro League on Saturday as Al Nassr faces Al-Orobah after another outstanding performance. According to reports, more goals in that game could accelerate the recently initiated contract extension negotiations to keep Ronaldo at Al Nassr beyond 2026.
