Guerschon Yabusele had an interview with the 76ers Insider. In this interview, Yabusele spoke about his 2024 Olympic experience. Part of this experience was his dunk on the 2024 Olympics MVP, LeBron James, and what happened after that performance.

Team France beat Team Germany to qualify for the 2024 Olympic finals. In the final, the Frenchmen faced Team USA, who had a dominant run throughout the Olympics. The battle between these teams keeps fans at each of their seats. Also, it was during this match the French power forward dunked on LeBron James. In the end, Team France went home with silver as Team USA emerged victorious.

The interviewer asked the New Philly about the aftermath of the dunk in terms of the number of phone calls, texts, or Facetime the Frenchman received. Guerschon Yabusele said “it got crazy.” The Philly forward couldn’t go to social media because the app was lagging so much. “Every time I go, there are messages. It was like people just commenting and following me. I didn’t know if it was for the Olympics or Dunk.” – Guerschon Yabusele on the aftermath of his Olympic performance.

Then, the interviewer followed up on this experience by asking the 28-year-old if he had a poster of this dunk. Yabusele replied, “Not yet”. The Frenchman claimed he “didn’t have time to settle [at] home and relax” because he moved around a lot. Following this statement, he told the interviewer about what happened at the hotel he booked after the match. “When I was in France, I booked a hotel after the Olympics; they had the poster [of the dunk] with a little message. I found that really nice. I was happy to see that; [it] made me smile.”

Yabusele on His Jersey Number

Guerschon Yabusele was a free agent after playing at Real Madrid. Thus, the Philadelphia 76ers signed him with a one-year contract to be a backup power forward for Paul George. Also, he will share minutes with Caleb Martin.

While in the interview, Yabusele spoke about his journey as a basketballer. Also, he revealed the significance of his jersey number (28). The Frenchman said that his jersey number (28) is the postal code of his hometown. Furthermore, it’s been his number during his stint as a basketballer in Europe.

Yabusele on His Connection With the Sixers

The 28-year-old forward expressed his connection with Philadelphia through Nicolas Batum and Timothe Luwawu, who are now former Sixers. In the interview, he said he met with Joel Embiid when Timothe played at the Sixers. Also, he’s looking forward to knowing more about Philly’s MVP.

When the Philadelphia 76ers offered Guershcon Yabusele a contract, the power forward told the media that Timothe and Nicolas played a role in his quest to return to the NBA. Timothe and Nicolas are Yabusele’s teammates in France’s Men’s Basketball team. Thus, it was easy for Yabusele since his French teammates played for the Sixers.
