Pep Guardiola is hopeful their midfield maestro Kevin De Bruyne can be fit soon enough. The Cityzens were hit with the shocking news of another of their star midfielder Rodri being out injured till the end of the season. The Spaniard was removed early on during their game against Arsenal, and it has been discovered that the 28-year-old has suffered damage to his knee ligament.

This will result in being out for several months which will affect his season. Now Pep Guardiola has looked towards Kevin De Bruyne. Hopefully, the Belgian can recover very soon to help reduce the big-name casualties in the team. De Bruyne will very much miss City’s tie against Watford, however, Pep is hopeful he can be available for Newcastle’s tie.

Pep Guardiola has spoken about the Belgian’s injury challenges. He spoke about the 2-2 thriller with the Gunners at the Etihad. He spoke in the hope that the Belgian could make it back very soon. He ruled him out ahead of the Watford clash, however, he is unsure he’ll be ready for Newcastle’s game. Pep will be hopeful he can make it back for UCL fixtures.

He said: “I don’t think it will be long, I cannot say how long for, I don’t know for Newcastle but it won’t be long. [He has] discomfort in his legs.” He added over his team’s gameplay so far and in Arsenal’s game.

He said: “Focus on the game, Defend yourself and focus on the game. We try to do what we have done for many years. I know what the opponent is going to do and tactically we have to focus on what we want to do. Don’t go away from what is important. We are an honest team and that’s all. There are things I cannot control. The rest, listen, I am not there. We have to be calm and give rhythm to the game. We have to understand it and stay in the game. We did it well.”

Rodri’s Injury and Replacement

Pep Guardiola will be looking out for players who’ll carry Rodri’s role after his big injury. Man City has both Gundogan and Kovacic available in the team who can stay in the Central Midfield role. Also, John Stones could move up from his center-back position to fix in for Rodri. However, a player Pep Guardiola will desire to step up is Matheus Nunes. The former Wolves man has struggled to find his feet in the club, however, he hasn’t been seeing a regular shirt at the club. Now as it stands this might be his time to shine at the club.

As the holding midfield position is being evaluated by the club, City will also need players like Foden, Grealish, and the likes to pick up momentum ahead of the season, to them to continue their premier League Dominance

What’s Ahead for Man City

The Cityzens will host Watford in their EFL cup tie this week. Pep will be looking to field a younger Squad after their exhausting challenge against Arsenal on Sunday. And hopefully, the boys will not disappoint. In the Aftermath Man City will clash against the Magpies at Saint James Park. City will travel to face Newcastle in a trick Premier League fixture. Pep Guardiola will hope his side can get back to winning ways in the game.
