Baltimore Ravens Extend RB Justice Hill

Baltimore Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens extend 26-year-old running back Justice Hill for another 2 seasons. The deal is reportedly worth $6 million, as the former 4th-round pick from 2019 sticks with the team for another few seasons. Although he is the backup to Derrick Henry, Hill plays a pivotal role as a pass blocker and pass catcher, especially on 3rd downs and passing situations. In a pinch, he can start and has been relatively successful when he’s gotten more snaps on the field.

According to NFL’s Ian Rapoport, the Baltimore Ravens extended Justice Hill to a 2-year contract worth $6 million. The 26-year-old rusher was set to hit free agency after this year, according to the Athletic’s Jeff Zrebiec. His yearly average is about $3 million with incentives likely involved for each season.

This is the third contract with the Ravens, as he stays in Baltimore through 2025-2026. He would be an unrestricted free agent in 2027 at the age of 30, according to Spotrac. This is a great value extension for the team, as the core special teamer and backup has been a valuable piece to their offense, along with special teams.

Team Agrees to Extension Worth $6 Million

Justice Hill’s most impactful role so far was seen in the Thursday Night season opener Week 1 against the Kansas City Chiefs. He was seen blocking All-Pro defensive lineman Chris Jones one-on-one, and somehow holding his own for his size at 5’10” 195 lbs.

He is the last remaining player from the 2019 draft class, as he sticks with John Harbaugh, who values his experience and multi-faceted role in this system. So far, he has 5 carries for 25 yards and 8 catches for 62 yards. Hill’s best season with the Baltimore Ravens was last year, where he had 84 carries and 387 yards, along with 4 total touchdowns. He also had 28 catches and 206 yards through the air as a receiver, starting a few games in 2023.

Securing their insurance at running back in case Henry gets hurt is a great plan to have due to the starting running back’s age at 30. Hill combos well with Henry’s skill set, as he can be the power back, while Hill can be the more elusive playmaker out of the backfield as a receiver until Keaton Mitchell comes back.
