Offensive Tackle Spencer Brown Extended By Buffalo Bills

The Buffalo Bills extended Spencer Brown

Buffalo Bills Offensive Lineman Spencer Brown has received a massive pay raise. Less than 24 hours into the start of the NFL season, and we have seen multiple players get extensions in the AFC East. Cornerback Jalen Ramsey agreed to a contract extension with the Miami Dolphins. Then, there’s another player in the AFC East who is coming off of his best season as a professional blocker for QB Josh Allen.

The Buffalo Bills have extended promising young Offensive Tackle Spencer Brown. The deal comes less than 24 hours into the start of the NFL season. According to reports, Brown has signed a four-year contract extension with the Bills. The monetary value of the extension has not been released. The former North Iowa grad is coming off of a promising 2023 season in which he played nearly twelve hundred snaps at right tackle for the Buffalo Bills.

Brown has been the starting right tackle for the Buffalo Bills over the last three seasons. In 2023, he finished with nine penalties and five sacks allowed, which ranked 25th in the NFL according to Pro Football Focus. He has started 41 out of 44 games for the Bills over the last three seasons, including 31 in the last two seasons.

The move proves that the franchise values their tower of a lineman and has full confidence in him. Brown would have become a free agent after the 2024 season after completing his rookie contract. The new extension will come with a massive pay raise and tie Brown to Western New York until the conclusion of the 2028 season.

Final Thoughts

The Buffalo Bills have made an effort this offseason to extend their offensive lineman. The emphasis is to keep QB Josh Allen comfortable after all the turnover on their offense in the offseason. The next starting offensive lineman, David Edwards, will become a free agent after the conclusion of the 2024 season. The Bills have a core in place with LT Dion Dawkins, RG O’Cyrus Torrence, and newly extended Brown in place for at least the next three seasons. The Buffalo Bills also drafted standout Center Sedrick Van Pran-Granger out of the University of Georgia in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

General Manager Brandon Beane is betting on another strong season from Brown. This is a bold move after the offensive tackle has only had one above-average season for the Buffalo Bills. On the other hand, extending the 26-year-old before his contract gets into the top-tier price is smart. In four years,  the decision on whether or not the decision to extend Spencer Brown was a smart decision will be decided.
