Xavi is looking to continue his coaching career, despite having a horrible run in charge of his former club, Barcelona. He retired from playing international and club football back in 2021 and immediately turned his focus toward the coaching side of the game, becoming the first-team manager for one of the best clubs in Spain – Barcelona FC.
However, he joined the club at a tumultuous time, when the financial issues, personnel changes, and new players made the team almost completely unrecognizable to the days when he, Busquets, Iniesta, and Messi were on the pitch.
Now, he is looking for new challenges and turning his gaze toward the Premier League to see if he can lead an English side to victory for the 2024-2025 season.
Xavi Looking to Coach in the Premier League
Xavi appeared to be one of the best coaches to take over at Barcelona FC due to his experience of playing at a high level, performing at that specific club, and knowing everyone involved. But, his tenure was short-lived and Joan Laporta, the club president, eventually gave him the boot.
Now, he wants to move to the Premier League to see if he can coach a team to win against big-league greats like Manchester City, Chelsea, and Liverpool. He is looking to become the ‘next Pep Guardiola’ and emulate his success, moving from Barcelona B team to the senior team, Bayern Munich, and Manchester City, where he has gone on to win the treble and multiple trophies during his time in charge.
But where would Xavi fit in best? Are there any obvious choices that would suit his personality, coaching style, and player tactics? It seems like there are a few choices of teams who are currently lacking a first-team manager and could deal with someone who has a real knowledge of the game.
Since Erik ten Hag was removed from his post at United, Xavi could be a possible option to lead the Red Devils this upcoming season. Thomas Tuchel was set to be the next in line to take over for ten Hag from his current role at Bayern Munich, but he recently turned down the offer in a shocking move that sees the Manchester United coaching role still available.
Another option depends on the current status of managers and whether or not they will be let go before the next season. As of right now, many managers are currently still with their teams in the Premier League.
The only other choice that is a potential for Xavi is if Eddie Howe leaves Newcastle at the beginning of the upcoming campaign.
Xavi in the Premier League?
One of the top things to look for in the Premier League is if Xavi can find a team to manage and how he will do with this new league and new style of play.
The next thing to keep an eye on as we go into the next season of English football is how Arne Slot does as a manager for Liverpool after the legendary Jurgen Klopp decided to part ways with the club. Arne Slot has managed other successful teams, like Feyenoord, but he has yet to be in charge of a top-tier club in English football.
Plus, we want to see if Arsenal’s fantastic finish last season was just a fluke, or if Arteta and his current squad can once again challenge Manchester City and win the title.
