The GMs Love The Minnesota Lynx a Ton This Upcoming Season
The Minnesota Lynx were close to winning the WNBA title in 2024 as they fell to the New York Liberty thanks to a strong performance from Jonquel Jones in a decisive Game 5. The Lynx are a very talented team coming into 2025, hungry and motivated to get back to that stage. On Thursday, the WNBA GM poll came out it revealing a few interesting results. The GMs favor the Lynx with 60% of the vote to win the title. The GM poll also revealed that Napheesa Collier will win the MVP trophy over A’ja Wilson and Caitlin Clark. Let’s examine these two results closely and see what went into them.Â
The Lynx Winning the Title?
Like was stated in the intro of this article, the Lynx had 60% of the vote to win the title according to the GMs of the WNBA. The defending champions are second on that poll at 20% of the vote. While the Aces and Fever both had 10% of the GMs’ votes to win the title. The Lynx are a great team and deserve to be amongst the favorites for the title, and I get why the GMs feel the way that they do because of the movement in the league and the injury to the Liberty’s Betnijah Laney-Hamilton.Â
The Lynx are a great team, but the potential of the Fever is too good not to pick them for winning the title in Catlin Clark’s second season. Which brings me to the MVP discussion as well.Â
Napheesa Collier winning MVP?
For the MVP results, 67% of the GMs had Collier winning the MVP after finishing second to Wilson, who earned 25% of the GM votes this season. Meanwhile, the current betting favorite, Caitlin Clark, only got 8% of the vote to win the award from the GMs. Again, the GMs are giving Clark motivation to perform better than expected. I love Collier as a player, but if Catilin Clark continues her trend of playing better than the season before, she’ll win the MVP trophy this season as the Fever will be one of the top teams.Â
Final Thoughts
The GMs have the right to vote for the Lynx because they could be the 2025 version of the Liberty if everything goes to plan. But the Liberty and Fever have the potential to be even better teams in 2025. I have the Lynx as the third-best team at this very moment in time. Also, Clark is winning the MVP award for sure, barring injury, of course. I think Collier will be amongst the Top 3 again this season for the Award. The Lynx start their season in Dallas against the GM’s pick for Rookie of the Year, Paige Bueckers, and the Wings on Friday night. For more WNBA stories like this, tune into Total Apex Sports.Â
