Waqar Younis Blasts Pakistan Fielding After Extras in Super Over Loss to USA

The T20 World Cup match between Pakistan and the United States was memorable! The debutants and co-hosts USA overcame Pakistan in one of cricket’s most shocking upsets. The contest was thrilling throughout, with the USA restricting PAK to 159 runs with only Babar Azam and Shadab Khan scoring well.

In response, the United States needed to score 5 off the last ball to win the game. But they only scored a boundary to tie it.  As a consequence of the draw, the traditional super over was bowled to determine the outcome, which the minnows won.

In the super over, Pakistan’s players were off their game. They leaked runs while handing additional runs to the USA batsmen. Former PAK speedster Waqar Younis became furious during the live commentary about PAK’s fielding performance in the super over against the United States.

Pakistan’s Pacer Amir Makes Blunder

The USA batted first and scored 18 runs in Mohammed Amir‘s Super Over. Interestingly, Pakistan’s fielding during the Super Over was awful.  The seven extras provided by the PAK squad tormented them, and they wound up shooting themselves in the foot.

Mohammad Rizwan, the wicketkeeper, conceded three runs in overthrows, and the boundary riders were also careless with their throws, allowing the USA to score 18 runs in the Super Over with only one boundary.  In response, PAK could only score 13 runs.

Pakistan has a strong reputation in cricket. But they underperformed when they needed to show their ability. No doubt, PAK was unable to take advantage of critical times. The super over, which was expected to be an entertaining tiebreaker. Well, this turned into a nightmare for Pakistan. They struggled to carry out their game plan under pressure. But, unfortunately, they could not!

Waqar’s Harsh Words on Super Over

Waqar Younis criticized Pakistan’s expert bowlers for their poor fielding performance against the United States. Mohammad Amir threw seven extras in six balls in the super over. That was pathetic!

“I can’t believe Pakistan has been playing like this.” Waqar Younis stated while commenting on the PAK-United States match. Their unsatisfactory condition in extra overs in the T20 World Cup 2024 left fans unhappy.
