Leading up to the time that the Indian cricketer Virat Kohli had intended to move to London, he faced legal problems, according to the Indian media. After being on the radar of the police for almost five months, the Bengaluru police have formally lodged a case against Kohli’s One8 Commune pub located on Kusturbha Road in Bengaluru in the form of a first information report (FIR).
The FIR alleges that the pub remained open past the permitted hours, operating late into the night on July 6, despite having permission to operate only until 2 a.m. This was supplemented by complaints of incessant loud music by the pub to the police against the rule for clubs in the area to cease operations at 1 a.m.
In regards to this, the police have closed One8 Community Pub and three other business premises for other compounding violations.
This comes as another test in the basket of Kohli as he gears up for his next big change, especially after he decided to bid his adieu to T20 international cricket at the end of the 2024 T20 World Cup successfully.

The FIR claims that the pub remained operational late into the night on July 6, exceeding its permitted closing time 1: State the time as follows: thirty o’clock in the morning. Patrons were accused of playing loud music at the pub, and after the disturbances, complaints were made to the police for further breaches of the law.
Among the bars in the area, they have been ordered to close at 1:00 am; apparently, One8 Community Pub violated the regulations.
Besides Kohli’s pub, the police have closed three other related businesses for the same offenses in the same region. Interestingly, other One8 Commune pubs, which are close to the Chinnaswamy Cricket Stadium, are among the units whose venues have been booked for violating these operations rules.

Indian cricket icon Virat Kohli has had some legal troubles just when he was set to relocate to London, the Indian dailies have said. It may be recalled that Bengaluru police have lodged an F. I. R. against the One8 Commune pub in Kohli, which exists on Kusturbha Road in Bengaluru. In the FIR, it is stated that the pub was operational after the allowed timings and was quite lively late into the night on July 6.
Despite having permission to operate only until 1:30 a.m. The police were informed by people that a pub was playing loud music and that it was against the regulation that clubs in the neighborhood should shut down by 1 in the morning. In response, the police have closed down one community pub and three other surrounding establishments for the same offenses.
These legal issues arose at the time when Kohli, the great cricket captain, left the T20 international format. He took the Indian team to a brilliant victory against South Africa in the T20 World Cup final, which was held in 2024. In the interview after the match, Kohli said this would be his last T20 World Cup playing for India and introduced the next generation to the development of the T20 game.
This announcement put a full stop to an era of Indian cricket where Kohli handed over the mantle to the new talents.

Extending his special gesture towards the team management, Kohli said that he was happy to have been awarded Player of the Match for the 76 runs that he scored in the main final match.
This was my last T20 World Cup, and it was a dream come true for us. I mean, I am glad I was able to make it count when it mattered.
In regards to Kohli’s future, one must mention that legal processes connected to his pub will inevitably have to be addressed, leaving a notable notch both in his cricketing and entrepreneurship journey.
