Ben Shelton and Trinity Rodman Steal the Show (and Maybe a Bouquet) at Friend’s Wedding
If there is one thing the internet loves more than a chaotic celebrity breakup, it’s a sports power couple absolutely crushing the offseason. And right now, nobody is doing it quite like Trinity Rodman and Ben Shelton.
While most of us are doom-scrolling in sweatpants and trying to figure out if it’s too early for hot chocolate, these two are out here living their best rom-com lives. The pair recently attended a friend’s wedding, and naturally, the content that came out of it has fans—and likely a few tennis commentators—losing their minds. Rodman, never one to shy away from a good photo dump, took to Instagram to show off the festivities. And look, even if you’re the type of person who rolls their eyes at “I love LOVE” captions, you have to admit: they look good.
The Fit Check: Green Dresses and a Relaxed Shelton
Let’s be real, half the reason we look at wedding photos is to judge the outfits. It’s a spectator sport. Trinity Rodman understood the assignment perfectly. She showed up in a form-fitting green dress with a waist cutout that says, “I’m an elite athlete, and yes, I look better than you.” She paired it with a tight bun and heels, balancing elegance with that effortless vibe she usually carries on the soccer field.
Then there is Shelton. The tennis star opted for a classic black tux and a white button-up. But, in true Gen Z fashion, he seemed to ditch the tie (or maybe he lost it on the dance floor; we’ve all been there). He rounded it out with brown shoes, which is a sartorial choice that usually gets you yelled at by fashion purists on Twitter, but when you’re ranked number 6 in the world, you can wear whatever footwear you want.
PDA on the Dance Floor
The photos Rodman shared weren’t just about the outfits, though. We got the full spread of wedding behavior. There were shots of Rodman laughing with the bride, twirling on the dance floor, and just generally being the life of the party.
But obviously, the slides everyone stopped scrolling for were the ones featuring Shelton. One photo shows the two huddled close, looking like the high school prom king and queen who actually stayed together through college. Another captures a sweet kiss in the middle of the party chaos. There’s also a shot of Shelton, sans jacket, wrapping an arm around Rodman. It’s the kind of wholesome content that makes you forget for a second that these two are fierce competitors in their respective sports. It’s giving “Golden Retriever Boyfriend” energy, and honestly, we’re here for it.
The Bouquet Catch: Is Shelton Sweating Yet?
Here is where things get interesting. While the Instagram post was all vibes and aesthetics, reports are swirling that Rodman actually caught the bouquet.
For the uninitiated, the bouquet toss is that archaic wedding tradition where single women are herded onto the floor to fight to the death for some flowers, with the winner allegedly being the next to get married. If Rodman did snag the floral arrangement, you have to wonder what was going through Ben Shelton’s head.
Usually, when a girlfriend catches the bouquet, the camera immediately pans to the boyfriend nervously loosening his collar or chugging his drink. Given that they’ve been public since March, hinted at wedding plans in the past (jokingly or not), and are clearly obsessed with each other, Shelton probably handled it like a pro. Or he laughed it off. Either way, the “wedding fever” allegations are definitely going to follow them into the next season.

A Year of W’s for the Couple
It’s been a massive year for both of them, and this wedding appearance feels like a victory lap. They went public back in March, and since then, they’ve been inseparable whenever their crazy schedules allow. They’ve been spotted on vacation, and Rodman has been a fixture in the stands at Shelton’s matches.
Just last month, Rodman posted a tribute to Shelton’s breakout season, writing, “Through adversities and losses, you have continued to thrive. You prove the doubters wrong and amaze me every day.” It was a touching sentiment, especially noting his climb into the top 10 rankings.
So, while we wait for the next season of tennis and the NWSL to kick off, we’ll just have to settle for this offseason romance content. They’re young, successful, and apparently very good at wedding guest etiquette. Now, somebody just needs to ask Shelton if he’s ready to catch the garter.
