Tennessee Titans Sign Veteran Linebacker Lorenzo Carter

Tennessee Titans

The Tennessee Titans signed Linebacker Lorenzo Carter Thursday evening. At the time of publication, the terms of the deal were not announced. Carter is coming off an underwhelming 2024 season with the Atlanta Falcons. He has 32 tackles and 1 forced fumble.

He was drafted in 2018 by the New York Giants in the Third Round of the NFL Draft. Carter spent the first four seasons of his career in New York before spending the last three years with the Falcons. Carter has 278 career tackles, 21.5 sacks, and 5 forced fumbles. Will he be able to contribute to a Tennessee Titans team that is rebuilding?

Tennessee Titans Offseason Summary

Tennessee had a disappointing regular season that earned them the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Carter is not the only defender the Tennessee Titans signed this offseason. They signed Linebacker Dre’Mont Jones, Defensive Tackle Sebastian Joseph Day, Linebacker Cody Barton, and Safety Xavier Woods.

Tennessee’s defense was good last season, but that is a misleading notion. They were second in yards allowed and passing yards allowed. One of the reasons why they were so good against the pass is the fact that they were behind big in countless games. That led to the opposition opting to run the ball to speed up the game. Carter joins a Titans defense will marquee names including Defensive Tackle Jeffery Simmons, Safety Amani Hooker, and Cornerback L’Jarius Sneed.

Final Thoughts

The defense of the Tennessee Titans was not the team’s main issue in 2024. Carter will look to bolster the unit in 2025. Tennessee’s next big decision is what they want to do with the No. 1 overall pick. They can draft Defensive End Abdul Carter out of Penn State, draft a quarterback, or trade down in the draft for a boatload of picks. The Titans have countless holes on their roster. Any of these options are on the table.
