But they saw their recent three-game winning streak end with an upset 84-80 loss against the Indiana Fever on Wednesday night. Dijonai Carrington paced the team’s offense with 19 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the field. She also tallied four rebounds and six steals. The living, breathing triple-double threat, Alyssa Thomas, scored 17 points, six rebounds, and six assists. DeWanna Bonner added 13 points and eight boards on 4-of-13 shooting from the floor.
Trailing 82-80 with 38.6 seconds to play, the Sun had a chance to tie the game. However, they committed a turnover, which resulted in a pair of free throws for the Fever. On the Sun’s final possession of the contest, Carrington’s 3-point attempt was off the mark. Caitlin Clark secured the rebound and ran out the clock as the Fever defeated Connecticut for the first time since July 2021.
Washington Mystics
On the other end of this WNBA matchup, after a 6-17 start, the Washington Mystics dropped each of their next five games. However, the team’s trajectory is trending upward recently as they posted wins in each of their last three contests. This stretch includes victories over the Los Angeles Sparks (80-74), Seattle Storm (74-72) and the Chicago Sky (74-70). In the four-point win over Chicago, Stefanie Dolson led the way with 17 points and six rebounds. Ariel Atkins finished with 15 points, making six of her 10 shot attempts overall, and she shot 3-of-5 from beyond the arc.
Washington trailed 68-61 at the 4:38 mark in the fourth quarter but concluded the game with a 13-2 run en route to securing its first three-game winning streak of the season. Will the Sun bounce back from a disappointing loss to Indiana, or will the Mystics push their winning streak to four games?

This year, however, the fourth-year guard is averaging 12.8 points per contest. She is also averaging career-highs in rebounds (4.9), assists (1.6), and steals (1.4). Her 19-point effort against Indiana was the third time she reached double figures in her last five games. Simply put, opposing defenses must know where she is on the floor at all times.
Washington Mystics
The player you need to watch for the Mystics is Stefanie Dolson. The 11-year veteran is the team’s fourth-leading scorer at 10.3 points per contest. This marks the first time she has averaged double figures since the 2017 campaign. In addition to her 17-point outing against the Sky, Dolson scored 23 points in a losing effort against the Minnesota Lynx on Aug. 17. Despite being in the twilight of her career, Dolson is still capable of producing when her number is called.
