Stephanie Simon Returns to Atlanta for Professional Boxing Debut

Naoya Inoue, Stephanie Simon

Junior welterweight Stephanie Simon is set to begin a new chapter in her boxing career as she returns to her hometown of Atlanta for her professional debut on September 27. The fight will be held in Trilith Studios Town Stage in Fayetteville, Georgia, as part of the all-women’s undercard fight, with Alycia Baumgardner facing Delfine Persoon to retain her undisputed super featherweight title.

Atlanta: The Place She Started From

That’s why this fight is valuable for Stephanie Simon. She meets her fellow competitor in Atlanta for the first time since 2002. She was born and raised in Roswell, Georgia, but her family moved to Washington State at the age of seven. Having spent a few years on the East Coast, this fight sees her back in the area where she first started.

For fight week, Stephanie Simon said she would take her mother back to her childhood home, which would give her the right emotions for her professional fight. The return to Atlanta, combined with the memories of her early life, would undoubtedly fuel her passion as she stepped back into the ring.

Stephanie Simon also returns to Atlanta, and some scenes remind the character of her father, who saw potential in her at a tender age. Her father once told her that she could do something out of the ordinary, remarking on her physical prowess. Now, at 30, Stephanie Simon is about to fulfill that prediction as she makes her professional debut just miles from where her father made that early observation.

Training with Elite Fighters

She has been preparing for her debut with the help of WBO welterweight champion Sandy Ryan in Santa Monica. Another person who is also training for a fight against Mikaela Mayer has influenced her training camp.

Ryan’s commitment and long experience in amateur boxing have encouraged her to work to her fullest potential for the next match. Training with fellow elites has also boosted her confidence and techniques for her professional fight.

Stephanie Simon Facing the Challenges of Going Pro

Amateur to professional boxing has proved very difficult for Stephanie in many ways not least the mental preparations for her first professional fight. Especially after nine months off, getting back into the professional leagues was quite stressful. However, experience gained from working with top-notch fighters has made Stephanie Simon recommendable for the strategies employed in professional boxing. Hence an improvement in her confidence level.

While getting ready for the fight of her career, Stephanie Simon is so much more than the event that will decide her future as a professional boxer: she is getting ready for the meeting with her past in Atlanta. When Simon comes back to the village where she grew up she feels some new unfamiliar emotions but still a kind of intense joyful curiosity.

Here’s the thing: Beyond a bravura act of endurance and survival, ‘The House’ is a welcome home for its enterprising author, Stephanie Simon. Fans will be interested to know how her homecoming will shape her when returning to the ring in the next step up in her boxing career.
