Lee Carsely ‘I’m not Comfortable’: England’s Interim Coach Reveal
England’s Interim Coach Lee Carsely has revealed how he feels about his new role. Lee Carsely took over from Southgate who resigned after England lost the Euro 2024 finals to Spain. The Englishman has so far helped in their past two Nations League games. Under him, the Three Lions secured important victories against Finland and Ireland. England was able to win 2-0 in both games. However, despite the wins, the Country’s interim manager has expressed his mind about the job.

Lee Carsely opened up after England’s smooth victory over Finland. The Englishman expressed how he feels uncomfortable coaching the Three Lions. He believes the expectations are high, and there’ll be no room for mistakes. He said: “I don’t feel comfortable [in the role], I’ve definitely been out of my comfort zone this international window. It’s been enjoyable but I’ve had to make sure that every single day I’m producing really high standards along with the rest of the staff.” He continued saying: “We try and do as good a job as we can and we’ve been fortunate to get two good results, and it’s about building on that now.”
The Englishman also talked about Liverpool’s star Trent Alexander Arnold, especially with his Man of the Match Performance in their two games. The Liverpool Right back who had struggled to find a starting shirt under Gareth Southgate, now seemed a crucial element in Lee Carsely’s English team. He said: “We played Trent in a bit of a different position tonight along with Rico [Lewis], who also was excellent, You’ve seen from Trent an array of passing and the ability to control the game from a deeper area and get into forward areas as well. It’s not a surprise seeing Trent do that for Liverpool this season and throughout his career.”
Harry Kane’s Comments
Kane spoke about reaching the milestone of 100 caps for England while reflecting on his brace. The Bayern Munich star was recently awarded the European Golden Shoe after he had the highest number of goals in Europe top flight football last season. He said: “It was a big night for me, Obviously proud to reach the 100 caps; there was a lot of talk about it. You know what I’m like; I want to score and help the team. It was great to be able to do that today. Whenever you’re doubted throughout your career, it makes you more hungry and determined to prove people wrong and prove to yourself that you can still play at a high level.”
The English Skipper finally added saying: “I always back myself to score goals, especially in a team like this creating the chances that we do. I’m excited for the future.”
Carsely on Kane’s influence
Lee Carsely was very pleased about the English Captain. Carsely expressed how he believes the Bayern Munich man deserves all the praise and recognition. And he said: “It was a big occasion for him. His kids and his wife were here; an emotional bit, I would imagine. Really happy for Harry. The way he’s conducted himself this week and I would imagine every time he’s been with England fully deserves all the plaudits he’s going to get.”
He continued saying: “What I’ve noticed with him this week is that he’s highly motivated to play for England and to score goals. To have a center forward like that’s scored as many as he has, hopefully that continues.”
Kane also spoke of Carsely’s influence on the team, despite his short time, Lee Carsely had helped the team secure two wins in their two Nations League games. Kane spoke about how the Englishman has given them a room of freedom to operate and play in their best way. He said: “He’s come with a great energy. He talks a lot about freedom and playing with your best attributes, attacking and hurting the other team without the ball; suffocating teams. We’ve done that well in the two games. Of course, there’s room for improvement, but it’s a good start for him and it’s been great to work with him.”
