San Diego Padres Left Fielder Jurickson Profar continues to dazzle when the bases are loaded. He is 6-of-6 in his last six plate appearances with the bases loaded. In two of those six instances, he has gone yard and 19 total RBI in those circumstances. Profar hit a grand slam in last night’s 9-7 victory against the Washington Nationals. He also hit a grand slam on April 6 against the San Francisco Giants. Profar is not only experiencing success when the bases are loaded, as he also hit a walk-off single in the 10th inning on Monday night against the Nationals.
Profar is having a standout 2024 campaign. He is third in the league with a batting average of .317 and has 11 home runs and 54. He is tied for tenth in the league in RBI and 11th in OPS. Will Profar be able to keep his success at the plate going this season?

Profar made his MLB debut in 2012 as a member of the Texas Rangers. He spent five seasons with the Rangers before stints with the Oakland Athletics and Colorado Rockies. This is Profar’s second stint with the San Diego Padres, he also played for the team from 2020-2022. He was signed by the Padres midway through the 2023 season after being released by the Rockies. Profar returned to the San Diego Padres on a one-year deal this offseason.
Profar is a .245 career hitter with 98 home runs and 413 RBI.
San Diego Padres Season Summary
The Padres(43-41) are in second place in the National League West. They currently occupy the third and final National League Wild Card spot. San Diego has been powered by their offense this season. They are second in batting average, tied for 10th in home runs, and seventh in runs scored. Their offense is led by both Profar and Right Fielder Fernando Tatis Jr. Tatis Jr. leads the ballclub with 14 home runs.
The pitching staff of the San Diego Padres has not been as successful as their hitting this season. They are 19th in ERA, leading the league in strikeouts, and are 22nd in opposing batting average. Dylan Cease leads the team with six wins and is fourth in the league in strikeouts. Closer Robert Suarez is tied for fourth in saves with 20.
Padres Upcoming Schedule
The San Diego Padres finish off their three-game set with the Washington Nationals this afternoon. They have a day off on Thursday before heading east for a three-game series with the Boston Red Sox beginning on Friday. San Diego faces the defending champion Texas Rangers early next week on the road.
San Diego is looking to return to the MLB Playoffs after a disappointing season caused them to miss out in 2023. The San Diego Padres made it to the NLCS in 2022 where they ultimately fell to the Philadelphia Phillies in five games.
San Diego has been mediocre thus far this season but has a talented roster that is capable of much more. If Profar continues his success at the plate, and if the Padres pitching can continue to improve, this can be a summer to remember in the city of San Diego.
