Rodrygo’s Sensational Strike Gives Brazil 1-nil Victory over Ecuador

Brazil’s World Cup qualifiers began with their fixture against Ecuador. Dorival Junior side hosted Ecuador at the Couto Pereira Stadium in Curitiba, Brazil. Selecao’s last international game was in the Copa America quarter-finals against Uruguay. They had lost to La Celeste on Penalties after a nil-nil draw in full time. It was a disappointing run for the Brazilian National team, with so much criticism flying around over the quality of the team However Brazil coach Dorival Junior will be hoping his side creates a better impression during these qualifiers to strengthen the beliefs of the fans.

Brazil faced a tricky opponent in the name of Ecuador, and in the end, they were able to navigate their way to an important victory.

Brazil vs. Ecuador: First Half

Dorival Junior had sent up a frontline of Rodrygo, Vinicius Jr, and Luiz Henrique against a very defensive Ecuadorian side. Brazil had a lot of attempts on goal from the likes of Rodrygo, Vinicius, and Henrique, however, Ecuador’s defensive discipline and the keeper Hernan Galindez kept the Brazilians away.

In the 29th minute, Selecao found a breakthrough thanks to Rodrygo, who had a beautiful strike into the bottom corner. Lucas Paqueta had laid off the Real Madrid star to give Brazil the lead. Ecuador tried to fight back, with a chance from Jhegson Méndez, but he failed to meet the target.

Brazil vs. Ecuador: 2nd Half

In the 2nd half, Brazil tried to increase their lead with chances from Rodrygo and Luiz Henrique, moreover, they failed to hit the target. Ecuador tried also to secure an equalizer, with Paez but he also failed to hit the target.

Ecuador brought in more intensity into the game, as they came all out. Chances fell for them but they failed to beat Liverpool’s shot-stopper Alisson. Brazil also had their fair share of chances too but Galindez also kept the scoreline from increasing further.

In the end, Brazil subdued Ecuador in a tight 1-nil victory.

Man of the Match Performance

Selecao had some intriguing displays that helped them overcome the tricky Ecuador side. Alisson had a couple of awesome saves, alongside Gabriel who was able to deal with the attacking force of the Ecuador side. Moreover, a player who carried the day for Brazil was Rodrygo. The Real Madrid star who was snubbed in the Ballon d’Or list, proved his quality once again for his country. He had scored the only goal for Selecao. Aside from his goal, he also made his immense contribution upfront troubling the Ecuadorian defense and creating possibilities of options for his teammates.

Selecao’s next game will be against Paraguay, Dorival Junior will be hoping his side can continue their winning run and get better as a team.
