In the Sacramento Kings 121-111 Overtime win on Monday night against the Memphis Grizzlies, Power Forward Domantas Sabonis recorded his 50th consecutive double-double. The streak began on December 2, 2023, against the defending champion Denver Nuggets.
Next up on the list with 51 consecutive double-doubles are NBA legends Bill Russell and Moses Malone. After Russell and Malone is Kevin Love with 54 consecutive games. The next three games for the Kings are all on the road as they visit the Raptors, Wizards, and Magic. Sabonis will have the opportunity to tie Love at home next Monday against the Philadelphia 76ers and possibly pass him the following night against the Dallas Mavericks.

Sabonis was drafted No. 11 overall in the 2016 NBA Draft out of Gonzaga by the Orlando Magic. He never played for the Magic and spent his rookie year with the Oklahoma City Thunder. Sabonis spent parts of the next five seasons with the Indiana Pacers before being traded to the Kings in February of 2022. Sacramento is where his career has taken off.
Sabonis had a standout 2022-2023 being named to an All-NBA team for the first time in his career. He also led the league in rebounding last season with 12.3 per game. Sabonis is a three-time NBA All-Star (2020, 2021, 2023) and is having a career year this NBA season. Sabonis is averaging a career-high 20.1 points per game and leads the league in rebounds at 13.7 per game while being sixth in assists. He is averaging over eight assists per contest.
Sabonis has an NBA bloodline as his father Arvydas Sabonis played in the NBA for seven years with the Portland Trail Blazers. In 2011, Sabonis was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

The Kings sit just half a game out of the NBA Play-In Tournament with a record of 39-28. The strong play of Sabonis has not been showing up on the scoreboard as of late. Sacramento is 5-5 in their last 10 games.
Sabonis along with Point Guard De’Aaron Fox will be the driving force behind a Sacramento Kings team eyeing a deep playoff run in 2024.
