Denver Nuggets Center Nikola Jokic is one of the best players in league history, but he has been particularly dominant against one Western Conference team. He has notched a triple-double in his last seven games against the New Orleans Pelicans. Denver is 6-1 in those contests. Seven consecutive triple-doubles are tied for the longest streak of games with a triple-double by any player against a single opponent in NBA history. Oscar Robertson’s streak against the Washington Bullets is whom the Nuggets center is tied with.
In his last seven games against New Orleans, Jokic is averaging 27.5 points, 13.7 rebounds, and 12.7 assists per game. He will have a chance to make it eight straight when the Nuggets host the Pelicans this evening. Jokic is putting together another MVP-caliber season. He is third in the league in points per game, third in rebounds, and second in assists. He is also trying to be the first player in NBA history with 55%/45% or higher splits on at least 150 three-point attempts. Will Jokic be able to make history this evening?

Jokic’s NBA resume is mind-boggling. He is a six-time NBA All-Star, named First Team All-NBA six times, a three-time NBA MVP, an NBA champion, and a Finals MVP. He has been inarguably one of the NBA’s best players over the last six seasons.
His sustained excellence, coupled with a great 2024-2025 season, could have the Denver Nuggets star gunning for his fifth consecutive NBA MVP. Philadelphia 76ers Center Joel Embiid was essentially given a sympathy MVP in the 2022-2023 season. It will be difficult for Jokic to win his fourth MVP this season as Oklahoma City Thunder Point Guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is the prohibitive favorite for the award.
Final Thoughts
Jokic will look to notch his eighth straight triple-double against the Pelicans this evening. He had 27 points, 14 rebounds, and 10 assists against them on Monday. New Orleans has the third-worst record in the league and attempting to break a six-game losing streak. The Denver Nuggets will look to take advantage of a wounded team as their star player eyes NBA history.
