The Winnipeg Jets are the President Trophy winners for the 2024-2025 NHL season. Winnipeg on Sunday clinched the 2024-25 Presidents’ Trophy, awarded to the team with the most points in the regular season. The Jets secured the franchise’s first Presidents’ Trophy after the East-leading Washington Capitals lost to the Columbus Blue Jackets, putting Winnipeg’s current point total of 114.

It’s been over a decade since a team picked up the Presidents’ Trophy and Stanley Cup in the same season. The President’s Trophy has earned a reputation as a curse. The last team to win the Stanley Cup and the Presidents Trophy in the same NHL season was the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2012-2013 season when they defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins. Chicago is one of seven franchises to sweep the two trophies, with the Red Wings being the only franchise to achieve the feat more than once. The Winnipeg Jets are looking into turning the Presidents Trophy curse into a big Stanley Cup run and winning their first in franchise history. “At the end of the day, it’s not the trophy we’re after,” Winnipeg coach Scott Arniel said. “It’s a heck of an accomplishment. Guys should be real proud of it, just what we’ve gone through this year, and to be right in the thick of things all year long as one of the best in the League, it’s a heck of an accomplishment.”
